Look at the thread "TT broadband hard to leave beware" This offer will swamp TT's services & the quality already severly criticised here and elsewhere will suffer.
Moreover there is anectotal evidence that when you rent a phone line from a non-BT supplier (part of this TT package) you do not get the fast BT immediate reponse and attention for dealing with your reported phone line fault especially at weekends.0 -
Martin,
Please include that fact that some of us, like me, are already paying £14.99 a month for BB with CPW and on Talk 1. We pay line rental whoever we are with. £9.99 with non-TalkTalk customer calls as well looks like a great deal.
I've got no reason to criticise CPW and TalkTalk. Great service so far.
Thanks.Thinking about the future....0 -
my advice is to wait talk talk will have only a set number of servers and if the ammount of users they get ecxedes expectations then the servers will run slow and you will have problems connecting to them. give it 2-3 months let them sort out the problems and then join if u wish!0

Although on the outside this looks like a Money Saving deal, there are a number of technical and service issues involved. Everyone knows the price, it's the smaller details that people seem to be confused about. This is not about buying a CD £2 cheaper online so you need to think carefully.
You need to consider a number of factors including:
- Is LLU available at your exchange and if not, can you be given a date when it will?
- Do you want to switch your line rental to TT?
- Are you willing to sign up to an 18 months contract?
- What do you use the internet for? (web/email/p2p/vpn etc)
- Are you confident on TT's network and Technical Support if anything goes wrong?
- Do you need to change BB provider now, or is it worth waiting to see how the market reacts?
A Money Saving deal is only a good one if it works for you. The TT offer could be great for some people, but others may be disappointed.0 -
Personally, I'd recommend waiting for the time being to anyone thinking of getting it.
Their bb could easily become overloaded and therefore unreliable, etc due to the huge number of people who would be using it.
I know for certain that I wouldn't comit to such a very long contract unless I was guaranteed the bandwidth that I originally signed-up for as well as the service being problem free as possible. TT (or any other bb provider for that matter) are unable to guarantee this and as such an 18month contract is a very, very long time to be unhappy with your bb because I rushed to get it.
Also, there is no guarantee that you will get the 8MB they mention even if you are in one of the areas that is unbundled (ie LLU) - it may only be 512k, 1MB, etc - again this depends on your distance from the BT exchange as it does with those using ADSL.0 -
As mentioned earleir the bt web site can test your connection and give a good idea of what broadband speed you can expect to get.0

Surely though, if they don't deliver the bandwidth they promise and the reliable service it would be reasonable to expect, then THEY are in breach of contract and you could leave them anyway before the 18 months is up?0 -

They are a very elusive company. You can't speak to managers, they don't call back as promised and don't reply to letters.
So how do you propose going about it?0 -

As bbb_uk said, there are no guarantees for speed. The product is 'Up to 8Mbs', so you might get 1Mb. If you have other issues you need to contend with their Customer Support. By the time it is resolved or you've had enough in order to persuade them to let you leave, months could have passed.0 -
anyone considering this deal needs to look at the other threads around tt service levels. my own experience is that they are a horror of a company that anyone foolish enough to touch with a barge pole will sorely regret considering.
ps - if anyone on these boards is a tt broadband organ grinder can you please pm me to help me get my MAC code. i'm sick of speaking to monkeys. thanks.0
