Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Thanks for all the get well wishes. I feel better now because I have taken it easy today pottering around on a day off rather than at work. Think I needed a day to recuperate plus when the heating broke for 6 days and I don't think that helped. Now it is repaired and working phew!

    Today's Christmas prep:
Bought some brazil nuts to top the Christmas cake with and put with the rest of the topping.
Bought 2 gift boxes for marron glace gifts
    Collect photos for scrap book/album
Wiped down the stairs and downstairs doors and frames

I decided to make some mince pies for the first time and they are now freezing away ready to bake another time.

Deep breath required as I attempt some sausage rolls this week! Then onto the marron glace in the next week or so.

One more feed for the cake then I'll top it with a glazed nut topping in a week or so too.

Then I think it is just the last minute baking left to do which I might have a go at on Christmas Eve depending upon what I decide to do.

Presents more or less done apart from putting the final touches to the hamper wrapping, better write the cards soon! Keep putting this off!
final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333

fedupandskint and cdsmiler............just read on the Health Board that milk chocolate is good for a sore throat. Normal bar of milk chocolate, break a square off and its supposed to ease it.
(I'd give it a try......any excuse to have some choccy..............lol) :rotfl:

3_cheeky_princesses - sorry, forgot to say in last post what fabulous coaster calendars you've made. :T

cdsmiler and fedupandskint -know the feeling with the cough thingy.............mine lingers on so OH got yet more cough linctus, soothers, strepsils etc. and today I've been ok............... Typical............but doesn't mean it's totally gone. Lemon and honey won't get rid of it but can be a nice soothing drink.............thats what I do -trouble is, too much of it and I get the most chronic acid indegestion:eek: Sort of 'no-win' situation at times. Fingers crossed so far today I've had no soothers or cough linctus...........:j
Had one course of anti-biotics that finished at the weekend and don't want anymore but if its on your chest maybe GP can give you something ?
Hope you both feel better soon:rolleyes:

Thanks mary, but being pregnant I'm really restricted as to what I can take!! And I'm the same with the honey and lemon. The steam really helped earlier today when I had one, but gave me awful indegestion - which I've suffered with throughout this pregnancy! Infact, anything likely to help the cold is likely to make the indegestion worse, and anything to help the indegestion makes the cold worse!!!! ARGGGGHHHH!

Thanks for all of your fabulous suggestions. The one I ended up going with was 2 nights away in a 5 star hotel for both mum and dad (joint gift), includes full english breakfast both days, and a three course meal each at night, and either a round of golf or a spa treatment for £85 per person for the entire weekend. All of that set me back £170 which I think is amazing !

Don't worry this is very gentle...... with xmas round the corner, quick xmas question?

1.IF YOU COULD HAVE ANY CHEF TO COOK YOUR DINNER WHO WOULD YOU HAVE ANY WHY?

    2. IF YOU HAD TO CHOOSE 3 PEOPLE TO HAVE XMAS LUNCH WITH, (DEAD OR ALIVE, CELEBRITIY ONLYS) WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?.

    1. I'd have Brian Turner - he's down to earth, good old fashioned cook, you'd get a good meal.

    2. I'd have
Gordon Ramsey, (he is lush, bit of rough and ready),

Sid James, (think he was brilliant on Carry On Movies, - that seems to be whats hes rememebered for, yet he's done a lot more)

Ruth Ellis (she was the last woman to be hanged in the UK) curious as how true to life the film was,

    xx

Gordon Ramsey - hes old enough to be my Dad but he is a bit of a dish haha!

Apart from the family which I'm not allowed to say, I'd say Winston Churchill as I'd be fascinated to see what he said about the war, Anne Frank (or Otto Frank - ditto about the war) and Johnny Depp so I could swoon at him over the turkey!

I know fab bargain hey - it was a Macdonald Hotel too!
