first off hope everyone who was injured or worried about hospital appointments etc are doing ok. Thinking about you all. ((hugs))
and hello to all new ones that have joined. too
I was just in our poundland at lunch and they had wonderful little books I thought I should mention for anyone looking stocking fillers or for xmas eve hampers.
They had three types - santas story, the nativity and another one (forget the name) they had little handles at the top and had a cd inside for either reading with it or songs (sorry should have looked a little closer) i think they said ages 3 and up.
Also they had little wooden books (not as thick as the old ones you used to get) but they were disney - nemo, snow white, lion king and cinderella they tell a bit of a story and at the bottom of some of the pages it asks a question for the child to do something - sort of interactive I suppose eg: in the snow white one it had a picture about the dwarves and the question was point to the dwarf with the purple hat.
(hope that makes sense)
Also got 6 bath fizzers in poundland which were wrapped in a gold foil which I though could go in my pots of gold (if they don't smell too much - wouldn't want to ruin the foody bits) incase thats of any use as well.
I don't have anyone to buy these for but it seems such a shame as they looked lovely little books and I thought maybe someone out there could benefit from me telling them.
still havent got round to sorting out my presents but I'm off for 4 days from this Saturday so maybe I will finally get a chance to start and see where I am.
anyway sorry for long post

Hello all :j
Been wrapping yet again...........just when I thought I'd finished I realised oldest sons girlfriends stuff was in her box but some of it not wrapped -so, now it is........bit of a juggle to make it all fit but I did it and now it's all tied up with ribbon...............job done !
Parcel wrapped another box to go off to my younger sons so thats all ready for posting -2 down two to go....:j
Desk is still all of a clutter.............oh well, once we've been to the hospital tomorrow maybe I'll feel more motivated to give it a good tidy up, fetch in some flower pots for pine cone decorations, finish off 'soft trees' and have a go at some garland type things.............maybe ?I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Hi all, nothing xmassy done for a few days as I 've had a cold
Yesterday DH had a day off so I spent the whole day on the sofa (I never ususally get to be ill!) which was lovely (apart from feeling like poo!), DH even managed to feed me and the kids which is quite an acheivement though cleaning didn't get a look in (he spent most of the day on forums, he's learning!) and the mess he's made of my kitchen you'd think he'd cooked for an army!
I'm feeling much better today and have blitzed the house to the point where it's actually cleaner than it would have been had I not been ill! DS2 has it too, I was up a lot last night him because he kept waking up coughing (good think I did get so much sleep yesterday really) so he's not at Preschool today, he's currently on the sofa with a blanket, a toy car and a beaker of tea!
I need to make my mind up about a xmas tree and buy that soon.
Need to stash the xmassy food bits I got in Lidl the other day before DH finds them and wants them now.
Make a list of what xmas food I still need.
Need to find kids stockings as I have no clue where they are.
Need to sort out decorations and see what I need to buy.June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

I ordered the book The Night Beofre xmas off Amazon but got an email to say they aren't selling it any more. Can anyone suggest another Christmas book suitable to read to little ones (2&3) - want it for their xmas eve stuff.
Ragz, we have this lovely book http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/search/ref=pd_lpo_ix_dp_am_us_uk_en_this.020is.020the.020star.020book_gl_book?keywords=this%20is%20the%20star%20book&!!!!!lpo%5Fixdpamusukenthis.020is.020the.020star.020bookgl%5Fbook-21&index=blended. It is the nativity story, so not Santa-based (!), but it is so lovely. Really rythmic with repetition and very beautiful illustrations. I read it to my boys every Christmas, and they enjoy it, I find it quite magical. I'm not sure about best price for it, just linked to Amazon so you could see it.
Sounds like everyone is getting on well with Christmas stuff. I am really needing to get on, as have all the presents sorted in my head, but not many actually bought! Unfortunately, some unexpected extra expenses this month which has thrown me a bit, so need to cash in my vouchers and use them up. Hopefully from this weekend will be able to really focus. Can't believe how close it is now!!!
Btw, does anyone know where I can get an elf toy from? Really would like to do the elf tradition thing where an elf comes from Santa for Advent, but just can't seem to find an elf toy anywhere (or similar - a gnome would do!!!) You'd think it would be easy as they are such a Christmas thing, but no.0 -

Sorry all - i know I am behind, catching up on the thread thru my daily email - but I just loved this, and think it sums up this thread. It's not nearly Christmas, it is Christmas right now!!! Love it!
Also forgot to say in my other post am thinking of all those who have hospital appointments/injuries/waiting for results etc etc. Keep positive {{{hugs}}}0 -
Good luck today Mary, have everything crossed for good news.
Right well I am so close to being organised I can taste it. By next week I will have all my pressents bought, I have all my wrapping paper, ribbons and bows bought and my cards are all bought. I do need to give the house a deep clean but I am leaving starting that until next weekend as I work better like that. But I do need to rearrange my bedroom and I really need to clean my car and get all the rubbish out from inside and clean in there too. Hmmmmm maybe Im not so organised after all but I know it will be all done come the 12th December ready for the tree to go up0 -
Hello all, I hope everyone is ok, Mary-op good luck and i hope everthing turns out well for you and your husband.
I've done some more christmas shopping today, I've only got my dad and auntie and uncle left to buy for, and a few of dd. I can't believe that christmas is NEXT MONTH!!!:j:j:j
movies 24 (on sky) are playing christmas films on weekends up until christmas (and you don't have to subscribe to sky movies to watch!!) so I've been watching some of those and been feeling VERY christmassy, I'm seriously like a child, I'm that excited
I was looking for christmassy things to do wiv DD and i stumbled across a site called santas post bag, to cut a story short I came across operation christmas child, and I remember doing a shoe box for it when i was in school, so I've decided that I'm going to do one this year! Theres a video of a group of boys recieving their boxes and they're so excited, I think it's such a lovely idea...heres the link watch the video
http://www.operationchristmaschild.org.uk/?q=pages/what-occ
So I'm off to the pound shop to see what i can get to fill up my shoe boxes!! xx0
