Btw, does anyone know where I can get an elf toy from? Really would like to do the elf tradition thing where an elf comes from Santa for Advent, but just can't seem to find an elf toy anywhere (or similar - a gnome would do!!!) You'd think it would be easy as they are such a Christmas thing, but no.
Have you tried Ebay? There's some here!! http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m38.l1313&_nkw=elf+toy&_sacat=See-All-Categories Granted, the cutest ones are actually dog toyts, but hey...it's a start!! hehe
I made the mistake of looking at the online M&S christmas food catalogue today - not only did it make me VERY hungry, but also very jealous that I couldn't afford it!! lol But it also made me feel VERY Christmassy!! Yeay!! lol

Ragz, we have this lovely book http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/search/ref=pd_lpo_ix_dp_am_us_uk_en_this.020is.020the.020star.020book_gl_book?keywords=this%20is%20the%20star%20book&!!!!!lpo%5Fixdpamusukenthis.020is.020the.020star.020bookgl%5Fbook-21&index=blended. It is the nativity story, so not Santa-based (!), but it is so lovely. Really rythmic with repetition and very beautiful illustrations. I read it to my boys every Christmas, and they enjoy it, I find it quite magical. I'm not sure about best price for it, just linked to Amazon so you could see it.
Sounds like everyone is getting on well with Christmas stuff. I am really needing to get on, as have all the presents sorted in my head, but not many actually bought! Unfortunately, some unexpected extra expenses this month which has thrown me a bit, so need to cash in my vouchers and use them up. Hopefully from this weekend will be able to really focus. Can't believe how close it is now!!!

Thanks for the book tip, I'll have a look.
re elves - I got a Noddy one off ebay, it's one of the evil characters from Noddy I think but looks like an elf and I don't like Noddy anyway so doesn't bother me. I may put tinsel on it or something so make it more Christmassy.June Grocery Challenge £493.33/£500 July £/£500

I was looking for christmassy things to do wiv DD and i stumbled across a site called santas post bag, to cut a story short I came across operation christmas child, and I remember doing a shoe box for it when i was in school, so I've decided that I'm going to do one this year! Theres a video of a group of boys recieving their boxes and they're so excited, I think it's such a lovely idea...heres the link watch the video
http://www.operationchristmaschild.org.uk/?q=pages/what-occ
So I'm off to the pound shop to see what i can get to fill up my shoe boxes!! xx
You may want to check out other organisations that do the shoebox thing, a lot of people don't approve of OCC (or Samaritans Purse who organise it) because the leaders are rather racist and they distribute evangelical propaganda with their boxes (see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samaritan%27s_Purse#Criticism_of_the_Organization)

Hello all :j
Well Oh's endoscopy thing seemed to go ok...............meant me and foster daughter had 2 hours or so to mess about so we went shopping................hit the charity shops -I got a sort of poncho/cape/coat -kept it on and OH didn't even notice.............:rotfl: Foster daughter got a heap of stuff from one of the shops.......two skirts, jumper, oh and two other things.......can't remember what now........more jumpers I think. We popped into Poundland -I'd forgotten how hectic and busy it gets in there............couldn't wait to get out..........did get a big Santa Bag in felt for little grandsons stuff and a couple of decorations -metal reindeer and santa. Popped into The Works as well for some card.........just bog standard really -I'm making some notelets for myself from piccys in a book I found.
Not a bad day really............OH seemed to recover ok and when we got back home he popped out to get a bit of shopping then cooked dinner ! There's me thinking all he's want was a bowl of soup.
Get the result in about a week from the biopsy they took so its still fingers crossed:rolleyes: But we're a stage nearer finding out whats going on.I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

I have been struggling to feel Christmassy but am finally starting to get there.
Why?
Because I have made my Christmas cake today. (and am feeling slightly sick after eating a good few spoonfuls of the mixture). I normally make it during half term with the mindees but had none in so finally got around to doing it today.
I have also finally started on my Christmas lists of what I am getting people. Not a lot as stony broke but thanks to you lovely ladies I am going to make a few items I have seen on here. So hopefully people will like them. Kate :hello:0 -
THanks for the tips on elves - will have a look at those on ebay, there look to be some cute ones there. Hopefully will get one in time for December.
Mary-op I'm so glad that things went well for you in the hospital today. Sounds like your oh made a good recovery from the procedure if he was busy cooking! I hope your results come soon, I know waiting must be difficult.0 -
