Caramel filled chocolate cookies
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 tablespoon white sugar
48 chocolate-covered caramel candies
DIRECTIONS:
Beat butter until creamy. Gradually beat in white sugar and brown sugar. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda, and cocoa. Gradually add to butter mixture, beating well. Stir in 1/2 cup walnuts. Cover and chill at least 2 hours.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Combine remaining 1/2 cup nuts with the 1 tablespoon sugar. Divide the dough into 4 parts. Work with one part at a time, leaving the remainder in the refrigerator until needed. Divide each part into 12 pieces. Quickly press each piece of dough around a chocolate covered caramel. Roll into a ball. Dip the tops into the sugar mixture. Place sugar side up, 2 inches apart on greased baking sheets.
Bake for 8 minutes in the preheated oven. Let cool for 3 to 4 minutes on the baking sheets before removing to wire racks to cool completely.

I remember when Father Christmas first passed his sleigh-driving test. He came skidding down in front of the toy factory.'Have you passed?' I asked.Father Christmas pointly proudly to the front of the sleigh. 'See for yourself!' he called proudly.

Hi All
Have been absent for a few days - come back and theres 7 pages of messages to catch up on!
Anyhow I will be list making for the last challenge and getting on with that as I always need things like that over winter - boyfriend seems to catch a fair few bugs nearer Christmas and little one needs more calpol etc - plus might pick up another few bottles of vitamins which i seem to have gotten him into taking nicely so will keep that up as its helping him not catch bugs although with the exception fo the virus hes picked up from school - joy!
Not done much Christmas preparations lately. Have gotten my big tub of sweeties - they were two fro £8 in Coop the other day so along with my discount it went well so mother in law can have one of those.
Also managed to pick up some little bits for ben - click together ben 10 figures - were meant to be £5 each but they were reduced to £2.50 each and there's two aliens in each pack so got those for him - possibly for his stocking.
Also our local paper is doing a deal where if you buy the paper you get money off a book - its Disney characters so am collecting them and will start looking in charity shops soon for books for him for his bookcase.
Also been looking at decoration decor so thinking of a colour scheme for the house this year - should eb good and looking forward to it now. Need to crack on with my mums cross stitch though. Saw her recently and went and looked at the beaded bracelets (ive already reserved hers and am paying it off monthly) and she said they are nice but expensive so know that's a good gift for her. Know she wants a trilogy ring too but no idea what size she is! Think that could be a birthday present as well as her cross stitch.
Also been left with an extra gift as my cousin has moved out of my sisters house now back to her mums, so think the hot chocolate gifty set i might send to one best mate and then only need one more to send to other best friend.
anyway - nice to see you all. Am going to be having my Rudolph day on Monday this week i think because Saturday was way too busy for me!
x x x xTime to find me again0 -

Please no more talk about babies, I ended up dreaming I had to tell OH I was pregnant last night, as we're happy with just our 2 it was very weird thing to dream of how we would cope if the scenario came up.You cant take a step forward with both feet on the ground0 -
well goodness knows how I'd cope - youngest is nearly 16!:jFlylady and proud of it:j0

Thanks for the info on tesco does anyone know if its still working as this will be perfect for my mum as she has no money to spend for christmas at all. I doubt she could manage the presents so i'm giving her every idea i've ever come across thanks to this lovely forum and hope that she will be able to afford something
I've given her every bargain/cashback website that i've ever heard of, so she can get a few bits. Thanks everyone i will have a proper catch up later.
xxI am only me, no pretences, no second guesses.. It's the best I can do, I'm sorry if that's not good enough for you... I'm sorry I'm not good enough for you :A0 -

My mum is a similar position tooIf your mum needs to buy any presents for children / grandchildren argos do the 2 for £15 range. A lot of the toys are really good ones. I have helped my mum choose some for her grandchildren this way to try get costs down for her and then using some of the cheaper / free ideal from this fourm for the adults . :T
Also if your mum is on the internet has she registered with sites like Pigsback, Dooyoo, Onepoll, BingoPort etc to earn vouchers, cash etc too It all adds up and helps. she can do this thro the year for Chrtistmas. Might help out for next year and there is still some time for this year.Member of Thrifty Gifty ~ Making money for Christmas 2010:£2 Savers club member no 40 ~ £54Amazon Vouchers BingoPort ~ £10Dooyoo Challenge Jan ~ £24.07 / £20.00 Yippee over target :j0 -
