It's a shame I did sock monkeys last year, will have to think of something else - wasn't there a thread with sock owls, or did I imagine that lol?[/QUOTE

There was something on here about all sorts of things you could make but blessed if I can remember it now.
You've reminded me though.........I'd forgotted I was going to cover a gravy tub with felt to make it look like and owl and fill it with choccys (owl poo!) for my friend.........she's got a thing about owls........loves them.
Must put that on my list.............along with all the rest...........lol

Not doing too well this week............new lad we've got keeps running away so we have to wait up,. ring the authorities etc. Stress factor through the roof.............
Couple of early nights to make up for the late ones will help.
Did manage to make another coaster/note pad and make some little gift bags for diaries and post it key rings so least I got something done.
Not sure if I mentioned yesterday but over on the freebie board theres a link for a free personalised calendar -upload your own photo...........I was so pleased I managed to do it and put grandkids piccy on it. Might make a nice pressy]
Right.............better check my felt supply for this owl.................lol
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

I buy dried rose hips for my bunnys from pets at home if that is any use to you sylph? xXx

thanks Shevs, I was hoping to get some to make some Jam or something though, for free, lol. Thanks for the thought though :)
They arent quite ready for picking yet so shall wait a lil longer.

Had a lovely day with my lil niece today, we went round "Wonderland". Our fav bit was the winter wonderland area, lots of huts with elves in working, having tea parties, making toys. All decorated all christmassy, it looked so snug. Cant wait for christmas now, dark nights, warm blankets & mugs of hot chocolate. Shall have to take the kids back when it gets colder, they will love the ambience, and I can get them home afterwards, into PJs with hot water bottles & cups of soup.

100 days to go, yay! can you tell I'm excited?
You cant take a step forward with both feet on the ground
  • Those are some good ideas you've got there, mary-op, I like the sound of the gravy tub owl.

I'll go and have a look at the calendar you mentioned.

Okay having tried to read two other threads (luckily from the last few pages) think I have found the current thread and am goingt o try and read all these pages on this one

I think I have found my spiritual home I just love Christmas. Nobody I know wants to talk about CHRISTMAS until December so I know at least here I can shout about it lol.

I have always started shopping for Christmas around June but it really starts for me in October half term when I make my Christmas cake - a tradition form when I was little.

Sadly Christmas has lost some of its sparkle for me last year as we lost my Dad in Feb 08 so last year was the first without him so we didn't have a traditional Christmas lunch although my house still had the three trees up as I am a childminder so I was able to get a little in the spirit event hough Christmas Day was very down.

This year I am planning on making Christmas Eve into a special time for Hubby and me as Mum is up on Christmas Day. We don't have any children of our own so we make the most of the month of December with the minded children.

oh and I love lists I have one for Christmas day itself my friend says its like a military manoeuvre it goes right up to one o clock eat then stops lol

I have subscribed to this thread via email so I don't miss anything (having spent all day - when I should have been doing paperwork I need to restrict my time on here for a while oops maybe harder than I thought lol)
    Kate :hello:

  • Just found this recipie for soap crayon, I bought mine last year, but will be trying this recipie out this year, may even give it a go over the 6 weeks hols with the kids, a nice indoor activity

    Soap Crayons

    Supplies:
    One ice cube tray
    Liquid food color
2 tbsp. hot water for each crayon
    1 c. soap flakes
    Small bowl
    Spoon

    Directions:
For each color, put two tablespoons of hot water and one cup of soap flakes into a bowl.
Add as many drops of food color to the mixture as you wish. Stir the soap mixture until it thickens. This takes time, so be patient!
Press spoonfuls of the first color of soap into the sections of the ice tray.
Mix enough soap in other colors to fill the ice tray, following the above directions again.
Let the soap crayons dry for one or two days. Gently bang the ice tray to loosen the crayons.
Pack them in a box for gift-giving.

Thanks Sarah great idea :T Would love to make these for and with my children and also as gifts but does anyone know where you get soap flakes from?? Also ones that are ok for sensitive skin to. :D
