Water Bills questions and comment

Is the meter reading correct ?
The water butt will not make any difference unless you use the water for something ( it does not remove the SWD part of the bill)
How much do you owe them ?
if the reading is correct is their any reason you use so much water ? Does anyone have a medical problem that requires more water ?
How old are your children and do you claim jsa or anything ?

Hello everyone, i have bought a house which i am rennovating up. i have not been living in it for 4 months, and still not living there yet until the work is done, Welsh water is taking out £47.95 out of my bank account for water, because i am waiting for a water meter to be fitted in, and i cannot turn the water off because there isnt a stop tap there. Can anyone tell me is this right? can they take out all that money a month when i am not living in the house ? i have contacted them but they told me i stil have to pay water rates.Yet i have been waiting months for a meter to be fitted. its ridiculous.
i await your comments. Thanks0 -
There is something called a void policy but it only normally applies if the water can be turned off as how do they know you are not really using it ? Not living there is not the same as not requiring the water and from what you have said I would think that they are not willing to apply the void policy but you could try emailing or ringing them and saying you don't need the supply and it could be disconnected to see if they will re think it..However there is little chance they will backdate that now as it would be hard to supply proof that you did not use the water.
Why are you having to wait that long for a meter ? If there is an access issue then it might be something that no one can change right now but if it is just down to the water company taking to long you might have a case to backdate the charges to the date you applied for the meter to begin with.There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;

Welcome to the forum.
When you say "not living there yet until the work is done" doesn't that imply the people doing the work will be using some water - using the toilets, making cups of tea etc?
<H3>Q. Do I have to pay water and sewerage charges if I’m renovating or decorating my house?
Yes, you are responsible for any water or sewerage services you receive. If you are renovating or decorating your house, if it is empty but contains furniture, or it is occupied you have to pay charges.0 -
Hiya all I gotta a prob that I hope u can help with ....
My Water bill is in 150 quid in credit, Ive asked if I can have the money back and told I can but they said that my payments would increase by 12 quid a month !!!!
When questioned is was told I need to have £300 in my account to pay my annual bill.........
Cant see this is right as they have my monoy and earing interest on it....
Any advice greatly appreciated ....0 -
No interest on the water account but if your bill is around £300 then that is what they are setting the payment plan for. The credit is not real credit..it is just building up the bill amount so if you have the " credit" back then you will still need to find £300 odd for the bill..Can you do that ?There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;

Hi all! We've just had a water meter fitted by Southern. At the moment I am still paying the old 'fixed price' bill from last April by direct debit however in a month or so once they have judged my water usage on the meter they will change the direct debit price.
My question is, can I come off of direct debit and go onto quarterly billing (as with my electric)? Has anyone done this? I'm not a fan of paying bills by DD - I'd rather read my meter and pay quarterly for my usage.0 -

Sorry, didn't see this before.
You can pay when the bill arrives of course but the one thing I would advice is to check the meter readings are correct before paying.
You normally get between 7 and 14 days to pay in full and you can also set up a payment plan at that point but your plan would have to cover the arrears as well.There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;

My Nephew is having a hard time at the moment with bills and housemates. One of his housemates has just decided to move out with NO NOTICE WHATSOEVER. he has told the landlord to take the last month's rent out of his deposit, but the problem is he still owes towards the water bill...
Is there an easy, legal way to make him pay his share, as my nephew is getting worried!0 -
it is a 3rd party dispute and the only way to make someone pay is to take them to court. The water company will not care worth a damn and they will come after whoever they can get hold of ( as long as their name is on the bill or tenancy agreement )There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;
