No problem, I only just sowed my kales and sprouts yesterday, so fingers crossed for a decent summer for them to get a leg up on everyone else's - I just want some for Christmas :D

Oh all my favourite things together, gardening, tea, cake and chat.

DH away camping for the night with the kids so I got to garden all afternoon.

Planted out sunflowers and glads from pots.
    Removed some rampaging carex grass
pruned and dead headed various things
    swept up
    Potted on Chinese lanterns
Just need to rake up all the leaves under the bamboo and the back is done for a bit but it is lacking colour, things to come, dahlias, Japanese anenomies and a few echinacea.

I have loads to do out the front and in the neglected veg patch next week. My runner beans are covered in blackfly and not a ladybird in sight.

I was glad the rain arrived early this morning because at 7pm I decided to make and executive descision and not water. Everything looks nice and perky again now. Hopefully I'll get another potato pot emptied today because we need them for tea.

We've had rain forecast for two days, last night I decided I couldn't wait watering any more, as everything was falling over, an hour later I was done and looked at the work proudly, then it started to chuck it down

    Mortgage-free Glee!
I am hoping to get some clearing done today. I have spent mange tout and spinach plants, a few cabbages that the cabbage whites got to (now lace curtains :() and some potatoes, garlic & onions to harvest. I can then get planting with next crops which I can't wait to do. I need to also support the french bean plants which are getting quite tall.

I have discovered that my hens don't like caterpillas which is a shame as it will mean I will have to squash them instead!
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

You're welcome to my rain, we've had it nonstop since Friday morning :(

Hoping it's not a swamp out there today to do some planting out.

Hens do like caterpillars, just they don't like cabbage white caterpillars, if you find the green ones on brassicas, they will eat those. I think they are from the large white IIRC. They will also eat the small sawfly ones.

BTW try squashing a CW caterpillar and then smell it, you will see why hens won't touch them :D
