Lilies to die for, anyway the little red beasties did.0 -
Moniker, what happened to your radishes is what happens when they're in the ground to often or if they don't get enough water. Some cultivars are more susceptible to this than others. I don't know about the rocket, though, sorry.
Westondave, your pigeon story made me laugh!
One of my onions has bolted, so I've moved it to an old welly by the door, I'm hoping I can save the seed and the flowers look quite pretty anyway. Ken68, I am plagued by lily beetles. So much so that I've given up on proper lillies, though I have some magnificent callas and luckily they don't get troubled by the little blighters. Although that reminds me... I was always led to believe that lily beetles have no predators over here. But twice this year I have seen house sparrows eating them!0 -
It was quite amusing - you could almost see it thinking - "I'm sure there was food around here an hour ago - nope not that way, what about over here - ah well try the floor that was always good for some pickings - ah there it is over there - now can I get to it from that branch - darn try the other side" until it gave up and went back to its old plan of picking up the dropped bits from underneath.
Now assuming we have the same weather 15 miles away at home as is currently where I am, I don't think I'll be needing to do much watering tonight! Absolutely chucking it down! Should top the water butt up nicely!Adventure before Dementia!0 -

thanks for this, I did water them regularly but didn't harvest them as soon as I could have done - maybe that's the reason they turned out badly. Never mind - I will know next time.

Dave, Pigeons are funny birds. We have a bird table on our lawn which is regularly visited by one ferral pigeon we call Percy, but have been moving it when we put the sprinkler on as the lawn was looking scorched to death. this particular pigeon always flies straight down from our roof to where the bird table normally is, gets showered with water and wanders around looking all confused. The bird table has only been moved about ten yards away but he seems fixated on it always being in one place and looks most disconsolated. All the other birds just go straight to it in its different location but I think this one has something wrong with his Sat Nav!0

Have already sold a tracksuit and jacket total £65 on ebay! Paid fees already and after postage i am left with 55 in paypal. Still 9 days to go and about 8 smaller items to go. Should get £100 towards new shed, then phase 2 of clothes sellign begins!
Freecycler has offerred me a few gazebo frames so will dig them into the ground and cover one with plastic - voila temporary greenhouse, and the others with netting for cages to protect my precious veggies lol.
I have noticed that since having my allotment i cannot pass anywhere with junk outside without thinking how it could be used lo. Picked up an old stool yesterday with a broken top to put over something with netting around and have been saving all my bottles to cut in half - top to plant next to my plants for water and the bottoms to protect my little seedlings. OBSESSED ALREADY!DFW since JAN 2009 - 2014 will be the year i finally clear debtsJust to see which month

Hmmm, looks like no one's been here for a couple of days, I'll have to get my own cuppa0

I'm also obsessive about collecting those large (1.5 litre) square mineral water bottle which I cut the ends off and use as individual cloches for courgette & other early planted-out seedlings. Got too clever one day though, when I spotted several splendid specimens at the base of a newly emptied container at a recycling tip. I foolishly reached over too far, temporarily took my feet off the ground and fell in, Not being in the spring of my youth I found I couldn't get out again and had rather a long wait until a gentleman turned up in a car to dump all his beer bottles. He gave me a very suspicious look (probably thought I lived in the bin) and was very reluctant to give me any help to clamber out. Finally he did, but sped off rapidly in his car without a word immediately afterwards, obviously not believing my excuse as to how I found myself here in the first place. (He probably felt he had to rush off home and disinfect himself!).0

Ahh that was you was it, you must admit it's not every day you find someone in a bin at the recycling centre, especially when they are wearing stockings and a naughty nurses uniform.
I don't know what you were up to and quite frankly, I don't want to.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -
Small wonder whoever it was didn't want to hang around to prolong the acquaintance. I was in my grubby gardening gear and even when empty, those recycling bins can get VERY niffy !!0
