I'm being very lazy this evening and have just given everything a quick glance over.Lots to do over the weekend but other things have priority.

Transplanting beetroot, carrot and a load of other things, trying to keep my tomatoes in pots healthy and generally swearing at pests as I'm now inundated with them.

Large vodka with apple juice please :)

    hi everyone, newbie gardener here!!

just wondering if there is anyone out there who is growing sprouts? I have planted some seeds bought from Morrisons which said sprouts on the packet, but they dont really look like sprouts:confused:
Both my dad, and my father in law (who know far more about gardening than I do)dont think they are sprouts either. If i go and take a picture of them and try to add it on here, (might need help with that:o ) do you think someone would be able to tell me what they are?????

    Its just so puzzling:rotfl:
    thanks in advance

We can have a go :D You'll first need to "host" your pics - I use Photobucket, but there are others.

We've had a happy event - the house martins who've made a nest in the rafters in one of our sheds (think DS, window, football, us not getting around to fixing the broken pane  ) have had chicks :T :j

still harvesting loads - potatoes, carots, peas, raspberries for supper :D

  • hey that sounds like great news P Penguin. :T
I've just had a rummage amongst my cucumber jungle and hey, there's a cucumber at least 2" long. toms are orange working towards red and beetroots are appearing at the 'shoulder'. Peppers still taking their time and brassicas steady progress. Can't decide whether to upend a potato pot to see what success I've had. Had to restart carrots thanks to dog, just because he's called Monty he thinks he's a gardener. I suppose it could be worse, he could be sitting on the TV :rotfl::rotfl:Need a cider now, any in the bucket?

Just wondering if the "sprouts" are of the bean sprout rather than the brussel sprout variety. In other words the crunchy stalk things you stir fry rather than the mini cabbage things? Stick a photo up and I suspect someone will know!

They are NOT sprouts, they are probably mung beans.....ie bean sprouts.

Do you still have the packet?

Inside those little pods, are there little round bean like things?
  • :T well done lynneee you did it. Unfortunately I'm just a newbie myself so can't help with the identification other than to say they don't look like my brussel plants .... but then I don't think anything does :rotfl::rotfl:

The packet of seeds is supposed to be brussel sprouts evesham special variety. the seeds are little black round things. Not sure whats in the pods on the plant, will go and have a look... the pods have about 30 tiny little green seeds in them

didnt think they could be a sprout plant because the stems are so thin so figured they would not take the weight of the sprouts!!

To be honest it looks like a Rocket that has bolted and dodgy bean hybrid.

Send the photo to Morrisons head office and ask for your money back.
