I'm also obsessive about collecting those large (1.5 litre) square mineral water bottle which I cut the ends off and use as individual cloches for courgette & other early planted-out seedlings. Got too clever one day though, when I spotted several splendid specimens at the base of a newly emptied container at a recycling tip. I foolishly reached over too far, temporarily took my feet off the ground and fell in, Not being in the spring of my youth I found I couldn't get out again and had rather a long wait until a gentleman turned up in a car to dump all his beer bottles. He gave me a very suspicious look (probably thought I lived in the bin) and was very reluctant to give me any help to clamber out. Finally he did, but sped off rapidly in his car without a word immediately afterwards, obviously not believing my excuse as to how I found myself here in the first place. (He probably felt he had to rush off home and disinfect himself!).

ohh I've just got in from work and thought I'd pop and have a chat. Loved the image of Primrose in the skip and then roared out loud when I read the next post. Hope I did'nt splutter tea over you all.
Once I've finished this cuppa I'll pop and check the dog hasn't dug up my vegetable patch ... again ...4th time this year! Anyone fancy looking after a dog till my carrots have had a chance to grow? He's great at digging holes for planting. definitely no problem with him getting his 5 veg a day:rotfl::rotfl:
Anyone able to shed light on what I can feed my cucs and toms that is organic and inexpensive.
Thanks.
Well I'd better be off garden needs tending. I'll try and pop in tomorrow with some biscuits for dunking ...any preferences?
Bye for now:wave:0 -
Hello, are we allowed to have a glass of bubbly in the potting shed?Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

Well we need something to do with all those grapes growing on the vines just to the left of the shed. Sounds like a good plan to me.:beer:0

Thanks for that idea I have some 2 liter ones and my husband is growing a lemon from a pip.
I might use one of them to make a cloche for that.

I'm sulking. I had a whole afternoon free to garden in and it's raining:(
I'll put the kettle on....0 -
Morning all, I need a black coffee this morning please. The weather looks wonderful in Bournemouth today and we're off to the allotment to see how many weeds have grown with all the rain we've had. Hopefully some of our veggies will have too!!!
I'm delighted that our garlic seems to have divided after all, thought we were going to have 1 huge clove, but was happily surprised!! We can now have garlic, onions, carrots, potatoes, beetroots, courgettes, broad beans as well as salad bits, all home grown. Delicious.
Hope you all have a goooood day growin and enjoyin.:j0 -
Afternoon, been a tad ill this week but back in action today.
Marrbett, just one garlic? I had over 120 in the ground this year and they are everywhere at the moment drying out. Still, I'll never have to buy garlic ever again.0 -

Lol, no, not just the one garlic, we just haven't pulled the rest up yet. I was gonna wait abit longer to harvest them ,but will do so after the weekend now. Haven't got 120 growing though .0 -
Aah, I would have a little furtle around and see how bulky they are before harvesting, but it's great whem you do dig them up and lay the out to dry. Very satisfying.
45 of mine were for a moon/on-moon trial; so I have some excuse for the huge numbers [some, but not much].0
