Hi everyone
How lovely to come across this thread. I sent off for seed potatoes from Thompson and Morgan and they arrived a few weeks ago. With the weather so awful I am itching to get them planted a.s.a.p. We have had 3 dry days in a row now and it really does lift the mood doesn't it? Going to potter about the garden and see what needs tidied up, and then in the morning I shall buy compost etc. and hopefully will be able to get the potatoes in the patio bags. Fingers crossed:)

I did lightly prune my soft fruit bushes & grape vine in the autumn but they seem to have grown a lot over winter with all the rain so given them all another haircut this morning. Also cleared away all the dead brown strawberry leaves. Amazed to see how many slugs they were lurking under them. So nice the lighter evenings are now creeping in.0

Lovely day in the garden and I agree Primrose so nice that the days are getting longer. Garden is so full of little snails, I hope the birds make short work of them or my plants are doomed. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0

Guess who's been sneaky and back in the garden today?
Nearly finished all the winter clearing in the back now so will be able to start spreading the compost very soon. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Raked out moss from the lawn - loads of it, and have left it in piles so that the early nesting birds can help themselves to it for nesting material. It's been very sunny here today. Would love to start sowing seeds but still far too cold and too early, and soil very wet so will have to discipline myself for a little longer. Am learning over the years that impatience doesn't pay and later sown seeds usually catch up quite quickly anyway!0

Frosty here this morning but nice and bright. Tidied up my back rockery this afternoon and rigged up some pea netting/canes to discourage those bl**dy wood pigeons from trampling on my snowdrops and a small but flowering hellebore. Daffodils starting to open and iris reticulata just flowering too.0

Ok folks
Where has spring gone???
Snow all over the place here, very cold out side.
I have egg boxes / yogurt pots etc on my kitchen window ledge with various seeds in them, trying to 1. keep them warm, 2. to get them to start growing.
Otherwise nothing will be ready to pick / eat till November time!!
Spuds are also chitting, but ground to hard to plant them...............
Any other ideas to get things moving so I am not too far behind later on this year?Breast Cancer Now 100 miles October 2022 100 / 100miles

Same here Kaz, garden ready, some poly sheets down, but can't do it all over. Broad beans in, parsnips should have been in, wish had done the bottle parsnip thingy now. Charlotte and Santa Mara chitted and waiting. Furrows drawn ready.
