Pawlala it will probably sprout again so keep a look out. You can spot it when quite small and hoe it away.
I'd happily swap it for our creeping buttercup which seems impossible to get rid of lol.

So I got out onto the lottie today for a good 3 hours without rain! I've dug and planted and generally mooched around. I put some more potatos in (I know but they are salad pots and frankly it's been so cold the ones I put in during March aren't exactly growing great guns). I sowed my nemesis - carrots, some bush beans and put some leek babies into position.
It's still a weed fest up there but at least it looks a bit cared for in places now.

    Hello all

Finally made it into the back garden for a good time this evening. Two major jobs are to remove the forget-me-knots which are everywhere and reduce the conifer hedge by 2' - neither job is easy as you can imagine but we've made a good start.

Not a good year so far for lots of things. Tomatoes look very sorry for themselves. Almond tree has the grand sum of 2 nuts on it, nothing on the apricot or on one of next door's apple trees (quite mature and usually crops heavy). The huge cherry on the other side to us has very little fruit either.

I need to buy some bits to fill some holes, verbascums, salvias and a new penstamon are top of my list with just a few bits for some empty pots/tubs. May get time tomorrow to go and look for those at the little nurseries. I notice the garden centres/supermarkets are absolutely over run with bedding but I shan't be getting any from there.

Has anybody else noticed how much the supermarkets, Tesco and Morrisons here are going into the garden trade this year?

Hope you are all having some successes.

Yes Dusty, pleased so far. Uncertain start but lots of stuff through.
Parsnips, turnips, swedes, carrots,..... taters late coming up, indoor toms OK. No Vic plums, but a good crop on Opal. No apples or very few. Runner Beans ..good.
Goosegogs a plenty. Leeks about 2".
Won't starve this year. Garden centre plants should be getting cheaper now and long legged stuff can be cut down to make a presentable show for later.

Ken must go and look at my goosegogs. Blackcurrents not great here but strawberries ok if lacking flavour, hope they will improve as the weeks go by. My runners are ok too going to start my french beans off today I think. A few of the bargain plants I got in the 'sick' section are doing well, one epimedium and another 'surprise' I recognise the leaf but am not sure what it is, could be a hellium.

Moving bits around and seed sowing are on the cards today and at the moment we have sun!

Yes that is what I mean but wonder now if it's rudbeckia.

Hedge lowering complete, 3 trips by 4x4 to the dump and there is still more to take, but another day.

Not much else achieved, sowed some cosmos which I bought yesterday, record for me buying one day and planting the next :D

Thankfully rain has held off here on the Hertfordshire borders today for the most part, and so managed to mow 3 lawns, tie up the broad beans and spray the black fly.... Cherries this year are miserable due to the vast number of sky rats (pigeons) we seem to have this year. Lemon Pippin Apple seems to have set well this year so please about that, Fuchsias doing well enough, but lost one or two bits in the greenhouse due to the cold and damp.
My Mind wanders, if found please return.
