Newcastle Building Soc - New 5 year-5% BOND (Not an ISA) NOW CLOSED

Newcastle website says:
I'm a bit confused - hopefully someone can clarify this: in my online thank you letter it is said that I have 20 days to fund my account. I have applied yesterday, i.e., I should have around till 3 August to fund my account, right?
Contrary to Newcastle's website saying it should be received by 24 July.
Unfortunately the 24th of July overrides the 20 days. This is what I understand from what I've read so far, and what Newcastle said when I called. This is because the issue is now closed. You must therefore make any deposits by the 24th of July.

Does anyone have a pdf. of the 5 year bond they would be willing to link here somehow ?? I actually part-filled the application then couldn't fill in the passport bit so decided to try a day later .... by which time it was withdrawn
thanks in advance0 -
Just to add to the confusion here...
I too was a late applicant on Wednesday but was lucky enough to get a confirmation email.
Having read some of the posts here I decided to send over a top-up via BACS (or FP as it turned out to their holding acct), as my main payment won't be taken until deadline day - the 24th July which was too close for comfort.
So... I phoned today to check the BACS sort code and account number which according to posts on here, was different than the CHAPS one they put in their email. Anyway, the adviser read out a memo sent out this morning which said that no top-ups would be allowed after the offer is withdrawn (i.e. the 15th July). And that this had been confirmed by the 'marketing' dept.
I asked what would happen to my top-up deposit that I'd already sent and said that someone would 'probably' be in touch to return the funds to me?
Has anyone else spoken to anyone at NBS today with regards to this issue?
Thanks!0 -
I am also totally confused as they told me the exact oposite yesterday.0

and if you didn't set up a Direct Debit then what? I plan to continue sending money in via BACS/Faster Payments until the 24th July...0

I missed the fact thet the BACS sort and account codes were different from the CHAPS ones - could someone republish the BACS ones - Thanks0

Just did a bit more funding of the 5% listening to crem music, before I remembered this - so hung up and redialled. - "Our offices are now closed".
So its only the 0845 no that is available 'til 8pm. - back to the crematorium.. :rolleyes:0 -
