efunc, can you let me know of the outcome of any conversations you
    manage to have with NBS.
I will probably send a cheque to get the ISA 'off the ground' along with
the transfer form with the details of my Abbey ISA for transfer

    thanks....stevepat

    BACS / Faster Payments transfer:

    Sort Code: 23-59-54
    A/C No: 0000 0008
Ref: Either your temp application number (provided at end of on-line application) OR your account Number (call to get it)

I`ll be making a BACS payment (not faster payment) from Llloyds.......how long will this typically take do you think before it reaches the Newcastle account? 4 working days? or less? don`t do a great deal of online transfers :o

I'm with Lloyds and I was told that my online payment would take three to four working days to reach NBS.

I made the first payment on Monday, so I'll be checking my NBS account on-line over the next few days to see when the money arrives.....

    I'll let you know :D

I don't think it will make it by Friday because Lloyds take a day to set up any new payments. It would arrive Monday. You could do a CHAPS transfer if it is for enough money to make it worth your while.

    Hi folks,

Just want to add another clarification. Earlier, on this page http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/savings/newcastle-savings-isa, we included early details of a new Newcastle BS 4.55% paying bond that was launching on Friday.

It has since decided not to launch this on Friday. So if you are waiting for it to appear, I wanted to let you know why it isn't going to! Also, it would be great if any of the regular faces on this board could get this message out if other posters ask about the account, as we did mention it briefly!

    Thanks

that`s ok....as long as it arrives by next Fridays deadline (I assume you were talking about it getting there by this Friday)

Actually, NBS have said that people have until 24th July to fund an account that is already open, so that's not this Friday, but next Friday (although I must admit I had to check that on my fingers twice :o)

I'm confused with this account now.
I opened one on the 5th of July and my deposit will be taken on the 17th.
If and when I decide to give my 3 month notice to close the account will I lose 3 months interest or not?

no, you will not lose 3 months interest.

From press release dated 6th July...

withdrawals permitted at 90 days notice and no loss of interest.

im confused about my application for the 5yr bond.

am i right to thinking because i opened this today online that it will be honoured?

as the direct debit to fund this account will not be taken until 29/7/09 which is after the 24/7/09 cut-off date
