Did they say that they will accept topups by cheque/post as original acknowlegement says cheques should only be used for the initial investment hence my quote.0 -
They did - but in view of your post , it might be worth confirming that tomorrow - though the guy Ispoke to did sound very authoritative and did not have to go away and check with anyone.0

I opened an account this afternoon and got confirmation that my application had been accepted. As a canny Scot, I opened the account with the minimum £5,000, with the intention of putting more into the account once I was sure the account was up and running.
Now that the 'issue' is CLOSED, does that mean I can't put any more into my account over the next few weeks?0 -

I would also like to say thanks. I regularly view the forums and noticed this thread but had not paid it any attention. I Think the 5% - 5years put me off.
At 6am this morning checked the MSE email which highlighted the benefits particularly the 90day notice with no loss of interest condition which suddenly made me realise it was the perfect home for the monies from my Halifax Guaranteed Saver Reward accounts which have just matured.
My situation was much the same. I saw this on Tuesday night while I was looking for a new home for my Halifax Regular Saver which just matured. I also got put off by the '5 years' but after Martin pointed out that this was a good idea I applied for it yesterday morning and got in there in time. The only thing I was annoyed about was that I didnt get my g/f to transfer our ISA across to them too as was going to think about it before starting the mamouth 30 day process of transferring an ISA. I wish they made this easier. Something like the bank issuing an 'ISA cheque' which could only be cleared by another bank would be cool as then they could give this to us and we could send it to the new provider next day delivery. Then it would be done in a week
Ahh well, hoping another ISA offer will come along soon!Current Debt Owed To Family: [STRIKE]£12,575[/STRIKE] £9,000 :wall:Estimated Debt Free... [STRIKE]Dec 2012[/STRIKE] Aug 2012

It was much simpler and straight forward with TESSA transfers.0 -
Newcastle website says:The 5 Year, 5%, Fixed Rate ISA and Bond (Issue 1) have been withdrawn and are no longer available for further applications. The Society will be launching alternative products on Friday 17th July 2009 and details will be available on our website www.newcastle.co.uk.
All Online Applications submitted, will be honoured. Any Postal Applications and cheque investments must be received by close of business Friday 24th July. All ISA Transfer applications where funds are being transferred from other providers to the Newcastle will be accepted. Your current ISA provider does have 30 days from request to action this. Unfortunately no allowances can be made for interruptions in the Postal Service due to Industrial Action.
Contrary to Newcastle's website saying it should be received by 24 July.0
