that`s ok....as long as it arrives by next Fridays deadline (I assume you were talking about it getting there by this Friday)
Oops, Apologies for getting that wrong - yes, I thought the deadline was this Friday. Thank you for correcting this.

im confused about my application for the 5yr bond.

am i right to thinking because i opened this today online that it will be honoured?

as the direct debit to fund this account will not be taken until 29/7/09 which is after the 24/7/09 cut-off date

According to the NBS website, all accounts opened before the bond was withdrawn that are to be funded by DD will be honoured.

Just wanted to say thanks to all the forum members who first highlighted this bond. My Yorkshire BS bond had just matured the same week this thread started so everything just fitted into place.

My lump sum was debited from my bank account today as stated at the completion of the application process so all is well and good. Can't believe Newcastle BS was basically offering a 90 day notice bond fixed at 5% for five years. Compare this with Investec High 5 Account (also 90 day notice) which is currently at 3.11% (although it was higher at 3.20% last week).

So thanks again to MSE and all you guys and gals in the Savings Forum.

I would also like to say thanks. I regularly view the forums and noticed this thread but had not paid it any attention. I Think the 5% - 5years put me off.
At 6am this morning checked the MSE email which highlighted the benefits particularly the 90day notice with no loss of interest condition which suddenly made me realise it was the perfect home for the monies from my Halifax Guaranteed Saver Reward accounts which have just matured.
I fortunately managed to apply for two accounts before I dashed off to work so am well pleased.
Its certainly another case of when the MSE email goes out that the offers wont last long.

    Thanks

I wanted to say that too, I would never have known about this bond if I wasn't a regular visit to this forum, but then again I would never have heard of Icesave either ;o)

I was quite surprised to only hear MSE staff mentioning this on the main board in the past 48hrs as I applied over a week ago having come across this thread via the ISA update thread.

It seems it does pays to watch - watch the threads that is :p

n.b found out about Icesave through members as well and not mse officials. I guess it is a good thing that we all contribute to the site :)

You can continue to send cheques /online transactions for both initial funding and topups as long as they have the money by 24th July

"We will bank your initial deposit upon receipt so that you earn interest as soon as possible. This option should only be used for your initial investment."
