In the confirmation email for my ISA application there were three funding options given:

    1. by cheque

    2. by BACS:
    Sort Code: 23-59-54
    Account number: 00000008

    3. by CHAPS:
    Sort Code: 20-59-55
    Account number: 00000009

whereas the confirmation email regarding the fixed rate bond (non ISA)
there were only two options given:

    a) by cheque

    b) by CHAPS.

I'm wondering whether people are considering to fund their non ISA bond by BACS because it is not listed as funding possibility in the email (I assume that we've obtained an email with same content regarding funding).

How can we top up our initial D/D, before 24th July, if we don't have an account number yet? I have a reference number for my application. Is that sufficient to transfer money to?
If you ring them, they will give you your account number.
I got mine a few hours after I opened the account online.

By mistake I sent a BACS payment to the CHAPS account (non ISA bond) - it got there OK and when I asked today which to use they said 00000009 - so it probably doesn't matter

My fixed rate bond and ISA account ( i opened both) give me all 3 options

    cheque
    BACS
    CHAPS

weird you not being offered all the same.

My confirmation e-mail for the Bond gave all three options (cheque, bacs, chaps) but I also opened an e-saver (so I can see the bond on-line) which gave only cheque or bacs as funding options

PS as an aside - the e-saver pays 2.5%. Not the top payer, but not bad for an instant access account.

    Hi,

I got my welcome pack today with a passbook showing my investment. Mrs. H. Elliott wrote to me telling me that they are the largest Building Society based in the North East of England. She invites me to contact them should I have any other plans which she can assist with.

I must say in all honesty I have been impressed with them so far.

Just hope they look after my money.

Just to double-check: Can you check the balances of ALL of your investments when you log into your e-saver account? In particular: can you check the balance of your recent opened 5 year fixed rate bond?

If so, it might be worth to open such an e-saver account so one can actually check the balance on a regular basis because otherwise one can only manage the account by post.

Yes. As far as I know, the 5 year bond is not an internet bond, on its own - BUT if you open an e-saver account, it then allows you to see all your accounts including the 5 year bond (that is what has happened in my case, anyway)

Looks like Newcastle may have stoppped faster payments into the bond.

Last week I managed to make these transfers, but this morning, both my wife and I tried again from our Halifax accounts and got the message
The recipient's bank is unable to accept your payment. Please contact the recipient for further details or use our bill payment service instead.

This message was after it confirmed that a Faster Payment could be made and received in 2 hours.

    The confirmation email said
    Dear Customer,

We were unable to send your Faster Payment on this occasion.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.

    Regards,

I would assume that they will now only accept Chaps, Bacs and cheque submissions, which have to be with them by close of play this coming Friday
