Hi zzzLazyDaisy
If they still allow FP in, as far as I'm aware you can only do Lloyds FP via telephone banking (and ask for it to go by FP). They (like Halifax) won't tell you what their limit is, so just ask if it will go . If not reduce the amount and try doing it in separate lumps0 -

Yes I did confirm that I had a bond account but I never gave any password etc for that.
Just rang them said password would follow later, but however she gave me first part of password and has sent second part via email, she also confirmed I would be able to see my Bond account online, although my BACs payments haven't arrived yet..:(0 -
Try this thread zzzLazyDaisy for recent experience of LLoyds TSB faster payments.
Fortunately I use faster payments with First Direct, Tesco and Nat West which all work up to the 10K limit.I came, I saw, I melted0 -
Update on the Lloyds TSB FP. My mother in law tried (via telephone) and was told they also implement the £500 tranches. However she failed as she was told that they couldn't insert her reference number, only sort code and account number (which is Newcastles' account number). So she sent a cheque.
However when I did my Halifax transfers online, I encountered the same. But when Ihad put in the sort code and acc number, the next screen gave the space to insert my personal acccount number. So possibly it would be the same with Lloyds?0 -

Hi, thanks for this. Yes I have done two transfers this way, but went by bacs. One took 5 days (including both the sending and the receiving day), the other hasn't shown up yet, but I am expecting it to appear on Monday (the 5th day).
So although I could send a top-up by bacs on Monday, which should arrive by Friday (if NBS accept it) I was hoping to speed things up using FP.
Thanks to everyone for the input on LTSB FP, and the link to the other thread. I think I will call it a day now - the rest of my moveable money is in Lloyds vantage on 4%, so still a good rate, and I can afford to bide my time.
BTW, not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere, but if you have a current account with LTSB, they also do a regular monthly saver at 5%, £250 max per month, which allows withdrawals without penalty.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
I had a savings account with Newcastle set up for me when I still a toddler, which I thought was later upgraded to an ISA. The interest rate of the account I have is terrible, and the account itself is useless because I need to take my passbook, some ID and sign a form everytime I want to withdraw.
I took the passbook to a branch asking for the details I needed for the Lloyds ISA transfer form, the incredibly cheery woman (< Sarcasm) printed out a form which was in fact a request to pay into the account via BACS. When I queried this she scribbled out the rest of it and repeatedly ringed the account details in the middle saying that was what I needed. I dared to query a different part of the letter which said "Our Bank Name: Barclays", to which her answer may as well have been chinese, and there was no mention of a roll number. She said this was in the middle of my 'NBS Account Number'.
What kind of Building Society doesn't have a simply procedure for informing you of your account details?
Interestingly the account number is similarly stupid as previously mentioned by others in this topic "00000008". Also, a message in the passbook says that addresses aren't printed for security reasons, yet I was able to obtain full account details as well as the address by simply handing the book over - no ID which they usually ask for!
Eventually after all this I filled out the ISA transfer to Lloyds, and weeks later Newcastle wrote to me saying my account WASN'T an ISA! Surely the woman in the branch must have known this?
Bravo Newcastle, I won't be coming back to you. :T
Some of your comments are ridiculous.
You had an account for donkeys' years, and thought you had switched the funds into an ISA. But hadn't. Obviously you didn't read those tax deduction certificates you were getting in the post every single year since? And didn't notice that you'd never completed an ISA application form?
And you call an account number "00000008" stupid! You really are scraping the barrel for reasons to insult the Newcastle. What matter is it what the account number is? It's 8 digits long - that's all that matters.0 -
Hmm - When I phoned NBS, they were quite positive to say that the 5 year Bond account is strictly a passbook off-line one.
I got them to double check this and they "confirmed" that no on-line access was possible with this account.
This make operating the account sonewhat inconvenient if you live south of York...
I can confirm that I can and have viewed my 5 year bond account online.
I didn't though, receive a passbook with my information/welcome pack.I applied for the easy access online savings account a couple of days ago so I could 'view' my 5 year bond, received a User ID today but no mention of password to follow just you will require this to operate your account on line....
Does a password follow this, anybody know how long it takes?
During the process of opening online, the 5 year account, I was asked for a password, memorable name, place & date.0 -
Amyway, what would be the best way to get this money into both my NBS 5 year Bond and 5 year ISA? I can get a cashiers cheque (or cheques) from Halifax tomorrow morning from my local branch. I can then then either pay this into my HSBC current account and send a personal cheque from there to NBS. Or I could do a Fast Payment from HSBC having paid in the cashiers cheque. Or I could get the cashiers cheque and send it straight to NBS (but I suspect it won't have the correct payee details on it for NBS to process). Or I could bypass HSBC and send a Faster Payment transfer top NBS. However it's capped at £15k, so I would need to do one for my ISA and two for my Bond. Any thoughts?
Hi
Has anyone tried to fund the account via a cashiers cheque? My hlx reward saver matures on the 24th. I live in Newcastle, I could really get to a HLX branch on the morning, get a cashiers cheque and take it to a NBS branch. Please, does anybody know whether this would be possible (or tried this)?
I have never used cashiers cheques. Would they clear straight away (as if it was a cash payment) into the NBS 5 yr bond?
Cheers0 -

i tied with a cheque book at a branch - branch refused and said take it to the head office branch at other side of town or use post or Bacs option. ring them and ask then to be sure.0 -
i opened one on 14th got just in time for 5% . i did transfer my money by FP but it didnt arrive to NBS until next day . so seems NBS is not setup in FP payment circle . however it does back date the lady told me .
to confirm , its a postal acc so you dont have a book/debit card/ no online access although you get annual staement. to take out money you have to write in with your ref????? not even fill in a form .
someone says they can see their bond online. so can i open another e -savings with a £1 in it or minimum deposit so i can then see my 5 yr bond ? because i wasnt asked to setup any other security questions other then my mums maiden name when i opened my 5 yr bond on line0
