The account number will be three letters, followed by 7 numbers then the first three letters of your surname.

    ABC1234567XYZ

I was given a similar account number over the phone but told when setting up a BACS transfer to ignore the letters fore and aft and just use the 7 digits. Hope it doesn't get lost!

I was told over the phone that I can use either the application reference no. or the account number as the reference, it doesn't make any difference.

I sent 7 seperate faster payments using the application reference number as the reference and all payments have reached my Newcastle Bond same day.

I just received the confirmation of the DD setup - is the new account number shown under "Reference" after "INV DD" on this letter?

    Thanks.

So did I! Wondered if I would be able to open one of the online accounts using the details included...

My money is currently with Ulsterbank so I will incur a loss if I don't withdraw on the 1st of the month. What are the rules around opening and funding this bond? Is there likely to be a cut off date?
    I think....

There will be a cut of date, but only when they have sufficient funds. We don't know when it will be. In fact it's quite possible the first we will know is when they say it is closed, with no warning.

This account would appear to be a star for anyone with maturing fixed rate deals. I am suprised, but thankful at the same time (for purely selfish reasons) that Martin and the other press have not picked up on it's unique characteristic, and therefore close the issue sooner.

Sorry if this has already been asked, how do you deposit? Is there a faster payments or chaps option?

If you open the account and choose NOT to make an opening desposit by DD, you very shortly get an email with details you can use to make a bacs/chaps payment. There is conflicting reports if faster payments work, but the sortcode suggests it would.

you & me both !... If you have already applied then you are usually safe for a few days after the account closes, so hopefully that will be after 31 July, if not then I am going to bite the bullet & lose a months interest, i think this is too good a deal to turn down..
