I've opened one and done a £20k transfer, they've given a date of 17th July as the transfer date, to allow the direct debit time to be set up.

I've just opened this account and requested a £30K transfer.
I was also given July 17th as the transfer date. Thought it would have been later being as you gave instructions to transfer on the 3rd.

Received paper confirmation of my DD set up for this account today. Still no further instructions of internet log in details etc. I hope they don't close this in the next couple of weeks, as I have a fixed rate account maturing from Birmingham Midshires soon.

I don't think you can operate it on the internet, I'm not expecting any log-in info for this account?

Just applied this morning, the earliest money will be taken from my account is 20 July. Hope its not withdrawn by then.

Good to see some decent rates coming up.

Any best guesses on how long this is likely to stay open and do you think there will be any notice of closure. A friend has setup to open with a small amount believing he could transfer in during the 5 years, rather than until the bond has closed, and may unable to get at the funds he wants to put in for a couple of weeks.

I've been able to see and operate the bond on the internet from day 1. I am an existing Newcastle internet customer and have been able to transfer money from my Newcastle internet instant access account to my Bond.

If they don't send you log in info, it maybe worth opening an instant access account to see the bond online.

If we aren't going to be able to login and view this account, then why did we have to input a password - memorable name, place & date?
I was expecting to receive a user ID in the post.

First you apply online, inputting various security info, eg memorable date, name etc.
Then you get a letter from them to confirm direct debit details.
Then a few days later they take the initial deposit.
Then a couple of days after that they send you your User ID and you can log in to see your account online.

EDIT: Apologies for passing on information given to me by their helpline. A later phone call to their helpline (see post #124) gave me different info. This account is operated by post and no User ID will be forthcoming.

Just rang and spoken to someone at Newcastle BS re viewing this account.
I was told that I will not be able to see this account online unless I have an internet account.
Darn it! I do like to be able to see my money, even if I don't want to do anything with it.

So open an online saver and put £1 in . (2.5% if you want to put more)
