I appreciate that everyone has different experiences, and no courier firm is perfect, however, I have recently started using myhermes for all deliveries that won't fit in the postbox and have had no problems so far. Out of about 50 parcels all have arrived ok, including several new Kenwood chef mixers which are extremely heavy, delicate and worth a few hundred quid each.
The best thing for me is the convenience of being able to drop my parcels into any of 3 local parcel shops either on my way to work at around 6am or late in the evening.

Unfortunately not many Hermes customers come on here and say "never had a problem" only members with a genuine, or otherwise, complaint complain. As I've stated previously, never had a problem over the last 10 years in various locations so must be down to the individual courier.
  • Just to update, Herpes (as they will henceforth be known in this house!!) have confirmed they have lost the parcel..

I appreciate that everyone has different experiences of them, and some lucky people have had no problems with them, but for me personally, out of three parcels, 1 was delivered ok, 1 had to be chased up and one went missing, so for me dealing with them again is a big no-no.

I've just had a Christmas present go missing, it tracked up to the depo and now they say its lost. Not sure how it can enter the depo then be lost, will it live in the depo forever now? To claim they want receipts of all the things in the parcel - which I don't have :(

My package was delivered having damaged and then sellotaped over. Unfortunately the contents were a small electrical which suffered damage. According to their video, I'd understood that large electricals were excluded but alas their small print disagreed. So much for taking out their maximum compensation.

In total, I've posted 6 parcels with myHermes. 1 in 6 damaged is just not good enough. You clearly pay for what you get. I'll be going back to Post Office, and just hope our local Post Office gets evening opening hours sooner than later.

I could only recommend using myHermes guys for posting soft squidgy stuff that you don't mind losing. And even that would probably be excluded from damage compensation.

I posted about 20 parcels with them with no errors - but I did get an ebay message from someone saying can you please use someone else as past experience was bad.. By then it was to late to change anyway tho.
People don't know what they want until you show them.

I have used My Hermes on and off for 12 months, they have a brilliant service in my area, the lady who collects is great. Once I took a parcel to work to post at the post office-by accident as it was meant to be left in porch for collection by Hermes.

She found out where I work and rang me, saying it wasn't where I usually leave them.........no it was in my car!
She asked me to drop it off at her house on the way home and it would go that night.

Obviously I have no idea what happens after it leaves her, but I haven't had any problems with deliveries. I always wrap really well though. For example a tea pot would have bubble wrap stuffed inside & across the top, then the lid upside down on the bubble wrap. Wrap the whole lot in bubble wrap, then newspaper, then a strong box.
The tea pot is then about 5 times the size, but nothing breaks, and packaging never falls apart.

I love my My Hermes lady!:j

Have to agree, both my Hermes agents do exactly what you should expect, just hope they never leave.

Another My Hermes user. I have recently starting using them for items previously sent by Royal Mail recorded mail. For an extra 70p or so, can track it from the second I book it to the second it arrives. All collected from my door. No traipsing down to the post office, queuing up and then it disappearing into the ether with only a 50% chance of actually getting confirmation it arrived.

I recently sent something to someone by My Hermes for £4.20. They changed their mind and wanted to return. Despite advising them to return by My Hermes they sent it by Royal Mail and it cost them twice the price.
  • I'm not unhappy with Hermes but I am bemused by the list of things they will not pay compensation for - There seems to be relatively little that they will pay compensation for - unbreakable things mainly
