  • Service worked fine for me. Dropped off at local collection point. Tracking worked and small parcel delivered within 4 days. Better value than Post Office for same size parcel.
With all bad reviews, I may not risk with a high value item, but was OK to try with low value eBay sale and no problems. So will probably use again in same circumstances.:)

Made arrangments for a collection. My printer decided to pack up, so I just wrote the address. Got a note saying that they won't pick-up parcels without a barcode.

Probably correct as Hermes and most other delivery companies scan the bar codes. I used parcel2go the other day together with the Hermes drop off shop, the website gave the drop off shop about half a mile or 2 miles away, neither shops could take them as they only did collect and go so ended up driving about 12 miles each way to drop off the parcel, never again as would have been cheaper using the post office ( or collect and go).

Can't understand your surprise in this instance. Without the barcode there is no proof that you paid for the parcel, nor can they confirm collection or track the delivery. The collection guys are not equipped to provide such a service nor are they paid to.

The reason they can offer the lowest prices is that the customer has to be prepared (and able) to do a lot of the admin work themselves.

    I agree.

The printer (quite temperamental!) has performed the same stunt before when I needed to print out an address. I also wote the address, and a different company (Yodel I think), were perfectly fine with it.
I think next time it's back to queuing at the P.O.

Why go back to the post office? Just use yodel again if they were happy to take your hand addressed parcel :)

Also don't cut off your nose to spite your face, if you send 2kg medium parcels using the post office you could buy a brand new, less temperamental printer with the money you would have overpaid after sending only 3 parcels compared to the other services you've mentioned!

  • am appalled at the service of Hermes delivery company or the one particular Hermes courier serving the Thirsk North Yorkshire area.
I have been expecting a few deliveries this week, unfortunately coming via Hermes, in one week I have tracked three parcel, two were allegedly delivered and signature received.....untrue, neither parcel were delivered I am still waiting for them.
One was allegedly delivered at 10.58 pm....according to Hermes call assistant they only work until 8 pm.
I asked for emailed copies of the signatures which they did send me, and the scrawl or should I say wiggly line was totally illegible as you would expect.
The third parcel was also marked as delivered and left in shed, a physical impossibility I am afraid there is no shed!
Surely this person should be under arrest for falsifying a signature, I will gladly do so myself .
I would never ever trust the services of Hermes just to top it off the one parcel that did turn up a full three days after being marked as delivered and signed for was smashed to pieces and the box had actually been opened presumably to see if anything of value inside!
If you are in thirsk and expecting a delivery via Hermes forget it, the courier is totally dishonest and should never be employed again.

I would have thought there would be more than one courier for Thirsk, where I live, a small town, we have two Hermes couriers, one is excellent and the other unreliable but honest.

I raised funds for Animal Rescues and, following a recent auction, I posted out a smallish parcel which was fairly heavy via MyHermes. BIG mistake. They didn't collect the parcel when they said they would - the came FIVE days later. The parcel wasn't delivered and, when I chased it up, they said they couldn't find the address. Funnily enough they then found the address and told the buyer that I hadn't put the address on the label - funny how they knew where to take it then. The woman who delivered the parcel was in a great hurry to get away but my buyer insisted on opening the parcel whilst she was there. The items were completely smashed and trashed inside. When asked why it was smashed, the driver said "well a big box did fall on it"! WHAT?? The item was covered in a slimy mess and stunk to high heaven. They asked to leave a comment on her electronic thingie and she said it didn't work. They insisted and funnily enough it did work!!! they left a strong comment which she was very unhappy about. She was rude, ignorant and aggressive with the customer so, if these drivers are self employed, one imagines she won't be doing that much work for Hermes in future.

I contacted Hermes about the damage and their response was unbelievable:

    Dear ,

    Thank you for your email.

Unfortunately we are unable to donate to your charity as MyHermes have there own contracted fundraiser's. We do apologise for any inconvenience caused however we can refund the postage costs back to you and you can donate them to the charity of your choice.

In the meantime if you do have any other queries please dont hesitate to contact us.

The Customer Service department needs training in customer service!

I will never use this company again and I will tell everyone not to use them too. The Rescue Auction is a fairly big deal on Facebook with nearly 5000 followers - it is reckoned that, for every bit of bad feedback, you lose 12 contacts, well that might cost them a bit of money! Perhaps a bit of investment in customer service would benefit them and their staff - the ignoramuses!
  • Anyone know if Hermes deliver on a weekend? I'm waiting for a parcel which the seller posted off on the 7th.. :undecided

Reading some of this thread I'm starting to wonder if they've just lobbed it in the bushes outside  :rotfl:

I've had Hermes deliver to me twice before, - the first one the seller had to chase up and the second one arrived ok. This one seems to be in some mysterious no-mans-land. I only hope they've not delivered it to the wrong address..
