Sending stuff back to a catalogue (at their cost) - the catalogue people arranged for this lot to collect it and told me it would be within a couple of days (but not to worry if I wasn't in as they'd leave a card and rearrange collection). Had to go out the next day, got home to find card with a note to say would call again the next day. I called the number on the card (courier) and left a message asking roughly what time they would arrive - no one bothered to call back. because they probably wouldnt know
Got up early next day and just mooched about all morning, went upstairs to check emails and heard someone put something in letterbox, assumed it was the postman, when I went downstairs 20 mins later I found it was another card from MyHermes (THEY HADN'T KNOCKED OR RUNG THE DOORBELL!!!!!),so what has the driver gained from coming to you twice? you knew you had a collection coming but didnt even bother to look? I called the number again and left a few choice words on the answer phone. I then emailed the company suggesting they paid me the money I'd lost through not being at work - NO REPLY.are you surprised?probably gave them a chuckle
The bloke eventually turned up today (he looked about 90), no apology for the hassle, just a complaint about how heavy the parcel was.
MY first experience of them and I am not at all impressed, I certainly wouldn't use them myself.

Like others have calmly said, I've never had a problem with Hermes. Last year I used them a number of times via parcel2go.com, who others I noted have raved about... but parcel2go.com are NOT a courier. They are an agent, utilising Hermes, Home Delivery Network, DHL, FedEx, UPS, Royal Mail, etc.

Hermes collected two LCD monitors last year, which were simply wrapped in bubble wrap and torn up cardboard boxes for protection. The courier laughed at my superb efforts at disguising the contents, and so did the recipients who both got their parcels in perfect condition within two days.

(edited) In my experience ALL couriers I've used have their problems sometimes! It's how they sort out those problems that counts. I've never had a problem with Hermes so I can't comment on their resolving abilities. I've just booked a collection direct with MyHermes for Monday, so I'll come back and edit this post if it all goes boobs skywards....
ive used this service 5 times and 4 of my parcels was over 5 working days im still waiting for my last one which is now 9 working days late
my last parcel arrived and it was shredded to bits and all the screws had fallen out leaving me to buy new ones to put my item together
You accepted the parcel in that condition after three late deliveries in a row?? Are you one of those people who willingly collect bad experiences just to have a good moan on the internet?

It's the legal responsibility of the sender to ensure delivery as promised. Parcel couriers provide insurance for a reason - damage does happen sometimes. If you don't report damage then Hermes can't investigate to find out why and they won't reimburse the sender for the damaged parcel.

Sounds like it's down to the individual courier as to whether you get good service from Hermes or not.

    EDIT:
Failed collection yesterday (Mon), called their customer services line and they'll make a few calls to investigate why, then call me back. All seems fairly standard, failures happen quite frequently with all couriers, but at least I can phone Hermes and speak to a human being in the UK within 10 minutes! Will come back again and update this post.
    EDIT:
Got a call back from CS within 15 minutes. Driver couldn't find the address yesterday (post code isn't very specific - I must remember to add special instructions in future), he'll be round again in 40 minutes, and will call me so I can give him directions. If that's bad customer service then I'm bald and I mosh. (I'm not, and I don't.)
    EDIT:
Collected within half an hour by a friendly driver in an unmarked white Transit - will post back once delivered.
    EDIT:
Delivered within two days of collection (so within four days of booking the first failed collection). Pretty good for a 5 day economy service, although I concede the parcel was only travelling 60 miles or so.
Also parcel2go have now started showing Hermes services again this week. No discount on the direct booking price so I guess whatever bulk pricing deal they'd originally negotiated with Hermes had expired?
  • I've been using Myhermes for a while now & I think they're super! Its saving me a fortune on posting any ebay things over 1kg, they always come to collect when they say they will, and I've only had one minor blip with a delivery and it was sorted quickly. I get the same delivery guy each time, so you get to know them. They allow you to have a 'safe' place for collections, (and deliveries) so you don't have to wait in for them. Its braw, I come home, parcels are gone, and I'm left with a wee card with stickers on it for tracking info. Their online tracking seems to work fairly well. If you provide the email address of the person you are sending it to, they send them tracking info too. However, I have a parcel too big to be handled by Myhermes, so I'm about to try Interparcel - we'll see how that goes :-)
  • myhermes have always been good to us - well done whoever covers worthing!!!

    I'm not impressed.
Just had a "sorry I missed" you.

The message was to "Pcl behind gate", not too bad, but the gate is 6 foot tall, and locked, but they still threw it over.
It wasn't breakable, but they didn't know that, and it was £100+, and would have been ruined by the rain. (Although it was in a plastic outer envelope)
If I wasn't honest, I could claim it hadn't been delivered, but it's unpacked ok, so they have got away with it.

Always use DHL and they have always deivered next day. Tried HDNL for £1 less - and they took 3 weeks to deliver.

HDNL and DHL are now same company, so if they start letting me down , i was gonna try MyHermes.

Not sure now though - so until DHL fail - i will stick with them for the extra £1 or so.
  • They've delivered to me twice. Their local driver to me is probably in his 70's, and even though he had delivered to me once with no problem the next time the box went missing. After numerous calls to Parcel2go and my local Hermes office it turned out that the driver had had the box in his van for about 3 weeks and when he finally delivered it he claimed that he couldn't find my location. I reminded him that he had delivered to me previously but he said he had no recollection!!

It amazes me when people say that the Hermes courier never knocked just left a card, Hermes couriers only get paid when they collect/deliver so they would get nothing apart from them spending money on fuel and time to just post a card through the door. Its not as if they get paid for every time they TRY and deliver/collect.

Maybe they sign for it themselves.
