Can report the Stirling Travellodge last weekend more than acceptable.

    Clean enough, friendly staff too.

Even left the supply cupboard open, so you could sneak extra coffe & tea sachets.

Better than £3.19 for tea & 2 slices toast in the adjoining service area cafe!!

Stayed at 4 different Travelodges in South Wales over the last 12 months, No problems whasoever, all were clean and had very friendly and efficient staff. Were booked again for the January sales in Trafford Centre, Manchester.

have you had written proof from Premier or any of the other chains, as to their cleaning regime- might be standard practice

Although you say travelodge dont clean toilets between stays, ive yet to see one that doesnt look clean. Ok there might be invisible germs, but its no different to a public loo (where it seems the norm is not to flush)

I worked for a different budget hotel for a short while and their housekeeping staff cleaned the cups with the dirty towels from the room and usually wiped round the toilet and shower with the same towel. After the programme came out about it staff were given a sheet to read about cleaning and steps to follow but I know that they dont. Staff are given too little time to clean a room and have to take every shortcut possible as they do not get paid any extra when they are not finished in their allocated time.
I never use cups out of a hotel room now and always take my own.

Lol, that looks like our room at Butlins, but it was worse!

I've stayed in a travel lodge and i found it to be really clean and good value, i guess it's hit or miss with where you go!

We stay regularly in Travelodge up and down the country and we've always found them to be fine. I can't recall ever having a problem with cleanliness although I do remember the one in Ashford a couple of years smelled of cigarettes. We've also stayed in Premier Inn in 3 different places (when there wasn't a Travelodge!) and I've never had a good night in one. I find the beds to be very uncomfortable and in 2 of them you could overhear the other rooms (I didn't enjoy hearing the neighbours having sex while reading to my kids!) I also don't like their set up with regards to breakfast where they send you to the Beefeater (I think it is) where you pay some extortionate price for 'all you can eat' breakfast and then have to order from a menu. I'm not generally a big breakfast eater at all but I took offence at that and I also like to be left alone in the morning for a while and I didn't like being pestered by the waiting staff all the time I was sat there trying to warm up from zombie to human.

Thanks (I guess!) for the tip on the mugs though, I definitely won't be using them when I'm at Kew Bridge in a fortnight. It's making me twitch thinking about drinking from them in the past. Ergh!

As so many of us on here use these rooms, hows about we have star ratings or at least a list of good and bad travelodges. Would that be a huge job ?

I would say thats a great idea so i will start it now

Sunderland Travelodge i give 3 stars out of 5 stars and the reason i cant give it top marks is because i stayed there on a Friday night and there is a nightclub and weatherspoons under the lodge and i could hear music till 3am.

Yes, if you're going to collate the information to make any sense of it. Why not just use Tripadvisor?
