There is no issue with my OP, its contents are entirely true and factual, despite your feeble attempts to cast doubt.

Well if the way you set out and worded your complaint to TL was anything like that,is it any wonder they took the stance you alleged they did.

Their customer service department have not responded to emails/letters and I'm unwilling to spend 10p per minute on their premium rate number (charging customers to complain, they must be in financial trouble). Having searched this site, the silent treatment seems to be a common feature.

Unfortunately the only avenue left for me is to warn people of my experience so anyone expecting any customer service can spend their money at a brand that values their custom.

There are laid down proceedures for dealing with complaints and are in TL`s T&C.
Go back and read the OP again especially the first and last sentence, then make a judgement.

I've picked out the post where the op has commented about poor CS. Other people have commented on poor/good CS experience (including me). My judgment stands that their CS varies between good and dire. You seem to have no experience of using this service so clearly cannot comment on that.

Do you work for TL as you seem to keep missing the point - which is, despite advertising procedures on their T&Cs, for many people CS is poor. It should be able to address queries/complaints always, surely?

My complaint was worded in a polite and concise manner, as were the subsequent follow-ups. This was in the context of Travelodge being rude and not replying.

Also, there is no 'alleged' here - their customer service department has ignored the complaint and not replied even to say they're looking into it. That is a fact, there is no 'alleged' about it. You need to stop making assumptions!

Unfortunately through their 'fingers in ears' approach it became necessary to inform other consumers about what to expect from Travelodge CS and that is what I am doing here.

I stay in Travelodges on average three nights a week (yes, per week :)). And in general the cleanliness is fine, although a bit variable, there's some I know where you'd often find dust on the top of the kettle, for example, whereas others where the standard is higher and I know that would never happen.

All the surfaces are always clean as is the bathroom, although you don't want to look too closely under the bed or sofa! They seem to have an aversion to hoovering the edges of the carpet, mind, most likely due to time pressures.

In general I have to say that the standard of cleanliness at Premier Inn is higher than that of travelodge, as are the quality of the fittings etc, (although I have to say I prefer travelodge beds). But Premier Inn prices are usually double that of travelodge so you expect more.

Fair enough but the majority that have posted here have had no problems with TL or their CS.
With any hotel chain you can find good ,bad and indifferent.

Have you ever noticed that sometimes when you phone a company up and you get an "advisor" that got out of the wrong side of the bed that morning,if you end the call and dial back, getting someone else, they couldn`t be more helpful.

I don`t work for TL or anyone else but I do use TL regularly, without any problems.

I had an exam in Nottingham today. We stopped in a Travelodge last night :o (in my defence, it was booked 3 months ago!)

That really is the end for us. Mold in the bathroom, tiles missing from over the bath and a ripped sheet. I got photo's yesterday and I thought of this thread as soon as I went into the bathroom!

It was room 30, Riverside/Queens Drive Travelodge. Nottingham. And it wasn't a £9 room either.

Out of interest have you had any need to deal with their customer services? Until I did I thought they were pretty good. Sadly when a problem arises they just don't want to know.
Yes I did; and they resolved the issue to our satisfaction

  • I had booked a room at the Travelodge at Sedgefield, and wanted to stay there another night rather than move to my next night booking at Skegby. Reception allowed me to use the Hotel phone to make the call to their booking centre and I was told I could do this; they would have to cancel the booking and would refund the cost and then make the fresh booking at Sedgefield at no extra charge.

I made it abundantly clear that I would suffer the inconvenience of the move if it meant having to pay any extra fee. They assured me it would not. When the refund failed to arrive I chased it up via e mail. I gave up after several e mails as I got no reply other then the automated one which says wait 10 days - a reply never arrived.

I finally wrote sending then a letter sending it so that it had to be signed for. Finally a reply which was very blunt and just said "no refund" So be warned they obviously are told to get bookings regardless and will say anything to get it. If they say they will refund I would assume they have no intention of doing so . I will never use them again. I simply cannot afford to loose £46.00, not a lot to some but a lot to us,
