They don't even clean or flush their toilets between stays, because of 'environmental awareness'!
I have this in writing from a hotel manager
Travelodge Customer Service (HQ) don't give a damn about customer satisfaction so from now on I shall pay a little bit more and stay at Premier Travel Inn or a different chain with adequate levels of cleanliness.
Bye Bye Travelodge, good luck facing down the rest of the recession with your levels of customer service :T

I have stayed in a few Travelodges over the past 3 years and I have had no problems at all with any except 1 and the complaint was resolved instantly! Excellent CS.
I have also stayed in many Hiltons and TBH, there wasnt much difference except there was no room service and a 90% more expensive bill!
We have just booked up 2 nights away for £9 a night for the 3 of us and we have stayed at these 2 before, so I know them well. I always make an effort to speak with the manager there at the time when booking in. We always ask for more pillows, more tea, coffee, milk and sugar and staff have always been polite and considerate.
You cant even get a tent pitch for £9 a night, let alone fresh towels, free drinks, tv, a bed, hot water with bath, hairdryer, air con/heating etc.
I would rather pay £9 and keep the other £50+ in my pocket!
I am sorry you had a bad experiance.

I would have had little issue had the price paid actually been near £9. £9 rooms are hardly available (I paid £40 compared to a £69 rate at Premier Inn, bad choice) so it's not really appropriate to use that as a benchmark for expected standards.
Their customer service department have not responded to emails/letters and I'm unwilling to spend 10p per minute on their premium rate number (charging customers to complain, they must be in financial trouble). Having searched this site, the silent treatment seems to be a common feature.
Unfortunately the only avenue left for me is to warn people of my experience so anyone expecting any customer service can spend their money at a brand that values their custom.0 -
Sorry, but I've only ever had positive experiences with Travelodge and will continue to use them in the future.0

Had problems with Travellodge in the past - 2, in fact! Firstly, room wasn't as I had booked - Booked a double and got a single and customer service was top notch - In house I instantly had my room swapped, no trouble, and with no prompting (I felt the issue didn't need to be taken further, so I didn't) I recieved a letter in the post apologising and a voucher for a free nights stay in any travellodge.
Other trouble was a faulty fire alarm in Croydon's Travellodge - It went off twice in the night before an important business meeting for me and thus I complained to customer service on teh phone. I had a full and sincere apology and I had the night's stay refunded for me there and then.:j [STRIKE]Debt Free[/STRIKE] Savings Wannabe! :jCurrent problems: £107 overdrawn in bank, £112 in unpaid DD'sSavings made: £00 -
I have had a mixture of experiences at travelodge and found customer service varies massively according to which one you are in.
One in particular was appalling from beginning to end and the customer services and staff attitude was universally terrible, I wrote a comprehensive review for tripadvisor as I do for any hotel that I stay at.
Again i've had Ok experiences with no problems too, but since the awful experience I haven't stayed at travelodge since as I can't risk that kind of stay again with young children.

Have had no problems with cleanliness or any problem with the rooms but had my car damaged by some of their equipment while parked in their car park overnight.
Had a letter off them asking for an estimate for repairs. Sent it to them two months ago and not a word since, and unable to get to speak to anyone on the phone.
Now in the hands of my insurers.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -

I read that the op is meaning the central CS, not the hotel manager?
Have to say, I have and still book the saver rooms, and they range from OK to excellent. However, in my experience their CS (email/letters/phone) is inadequate - I think they must hope that ignoring you will make you go away.
You were certainly lucky with your experience! It was probably over the top and shows that there is a need to overhaul the system - there are people with genuine complaints (as you say, your problem was rectified instantly) whose communications remain unanswered.
Can't say I've thought the toilets unclean though0 -

I got that, but the voucher came, I assume from main CS/HO, and the second time I dealt with central CS over the phone. :P
Ditto on the toilet front actually - Have always found the hotels to be clean.:j [STRIKE]Debt Free[/STRIKE] Savings Wannabe! :jCurrent problems: £107 overdrawn in bank, £112 in unpaid DD'sSavings made: £00 -

Yes, it shows how arbitrary their system is. I eventually put the phone down after a 35 minute wait .
Hotels I've stayed in have been clean - very varying in chic-shabby, but never dirty.0
