My only real gripe with Travelodge is that the windows are always locked so that you can hardly open them at all. As a result the rooms are extremely unpleasant in the summer - unless you like Turkish Baths.

Has anyone managed to get hold of a universal key to get round this problem, or know where to get one. They won't give you one at reception. sad0002.gif

we just take a fan with us instead - as alot of travelodges are now highrise, having kids, we darent take the catch off (espec as the sofa is under the window, making it just the right height for a trampoline bounce, into oblivion)

I shall pay a little bit more and stay at Premier Travel Inn or a different chain with adequate levels of cleanliness

have you had written proof from Premier or any of the other chains, as to their cleaning regime- might be standard practice

Although you say travelodge dont clean toilets between stays, ive yet to see one that doesnt look clean. Ok there might be invisible germs, but its no different to a public loo (where it seems the norm is not to flush)

Good idea - thanks! Will do that if we're using the car. Not really an option if you're travelling light without the car, though. I take your point entirely about the kids, but when you don't have kids with you it's a real pain not being able to open the windows - and extremely unpleasant too.

  • I stayed at a really manky one at Preston Park. The plug didnt fit in the bath. The sink wouldn't empty it was blocked. The door cards had to be re done every time we came back, and it was generally grubby and we paid £70 per night. Having said that my dd just stayed at one a couple of miles from me with her family and it was very nice, clean, and respectable. The staff seemed helpful too.

That's only in the US not UK but the state of the hotels depends on the Managers and area managers and I've always stayed in good one's myself.

Has anyone any input regarding the Stirling Travelodge.

I've to use it next week - or should I look elsewhere!?

    Thanks

I love Travelodge. I have never had any problems with any that I have stayed at. Cleanliness is important to me and that has always been good and I have found staff very helpful.
