I know someone who had a partime job there. Policy is the last persons cups get wipe out with the used sheets or towels.

Motto: Never ever ever leave your toothbrush visible in a hotel bathroom - it's just too tempting. :rotfl:

That's only in the US not UK but the state of the hotels depends on the Managers and area managers and I've always stayed in good one's myself.

Yes, Travelodge (UK) is distict from and unrelated to Travelodge (USA). They just share the same name. Whereas the Ramada (UK) franchise is held by Jarvis Hotels and Days Inn (UK) is related to Welcome Break services.

We really like travelodge and stayed in tewkesbury this week end and had a great time. i always find them clen and efficently staffed. you can always request the things like irons and hairdryers etc. the tewkesbury one had a barcafe and the food was normal pub grub and a great buffet breakfast. Kids are welcome. I've taken our little one since she was tiny (now two) in a travel cot and now on the bed/sofa. Have always requested a room near the entrance as always have lots of baby stuff to lug about. It's worth noting that they allocate rooms by alphabetic surname order. williams is our surname so we alwyas get a room far far away but just ask can we swap!! never any problems. Have been to worse hotels, b and bs and holiday parks (don't get me started on Pontins Brean!!!)

    Safiya, our problems were:

The hotel being extremely hot, windows not able to open and nobody able to get a fan for the room. We asked everybody and gave up after about an hour and a half of to-ing and fro-ing.

The hotel staff let people smoke all over the hotel - in lifts/in corridors/in the reception and when I mentioned it (i'm uber polite, so wasn't confrontational at all) the receptionist rolled her eyes, turned around and walked off slamming the door.

At breakfast they had hardly any food out, and again the staff were extremely rude and basically rolled their eyes and tutted at our requests for e.g. milk for cereal.

It was appalling and made the stay a total nightmare - it was Watford Central so DON'T GO THERE!!! (there were also footie fans chanting and drunk all night, gah. ) LOL.

So this is TL`s official policy is it?

    Total nonsense,
all the TL`s I`ve stayed in change the cups everyday.
When you walk along the corridors you can see on the trolleys the fresh cups and also the small trays of coffee, tea etc. ready to be put in each room.

I hope you've complained to customer service, they should give you some compensation (probably an e-voucher or something) and an apology.

I doubt they probably let people smoke now as it is illegal. Was this before the smoking ban came into effect? As if it was after they are breaking the law

Going next week so il find out what they are like

Agree, I took my two eldest children to London for a few days last summer and stayed here too, fabulous location isn't it? We went to see Hairspray - 2 doors down, lol!
