have you had written proof from Premier or any of the other chains, as to their cleaning regime- might be standard practice

Although you say travelodge dont clean toilets between stays, ive yet to see one that doesnt look clean. Ok there might be invisible germs, but its no different to a public loo (where it seems the norm is not to flush)

    Flea

As ex-Premier staff (I was a receptionist but I also was trained on housekeeping and often cleaned rooms when housekeeping were very busy) and also my best mate was trained primarily as a housekeeper and knows every single point in the Premier housekeeping practices - I can quite categorically state this is NOT Premier Inn practice!!!! Toilets are not only flushed but cleaned throughly with cleaning agent, cups are also washed in very hot water with detergent.
We've stayed in the odd few grubby TL's but the newer ones seem to be ok. Mind you, we also stayed in a Hilton where the room was absolutely disgusting, so I dont think its restricted to budget chains!!!

Too true - remember this report about Radisson Edwardian and their charming practices involving toilet brushes, glasses and worse?

Out of interest have you had any need to deal with their customer services? Until I did I thought they were pretty good. Sadly when a problem arises they just don't want to know.

you must be doing something wrong?

have had great servicoe at each stay
and also one issue with a bookign and they gave me a £49 voucher to use against another stay!

No, I'm not doing anything wrong. I didn't cause the bathroom to be unusable because of the state it was in. Travelodge Customer Service are the ones in the wrong. :)

The last 2 Travelodge's we've stayed at, we've had a bit of trouble tbh.

The 1st was Belfast. Now I'm usually someone who is glad to have a roof over their head! Even I felt this was well below par from previous experiences of TL. It was a dirty room, really dark and in much need of refurb. Like I say, this doesn't really bother me that much, but it was quite dirty, certainly not what I expect from TL. The iron had wires hanging out of it. To be fair though, we did have a reasonably satisfactory outcome with this one.

The second was Okehampton, Devon, last month. My GF is allergic to dogs, they bloody allow dogs in the rooms at Okehampton! As soon as we got into the room, my GF knew a dog had been in there. We found dog hairs on the floor around the bed! She went to reception and the lady checked and confirmed that there had been a dog in there a couple of days previously. She was shocked that my GF knew a dog had been in there. The management couldn't givea to$$ about us on this occasion, they didn't want to know at all.

Even though Belfast redeemed themselves a little with my GF, Okehampton/TL main HQ went and undid their *good* work as my GF then remembers all the bad things about both. She is determined not to stop at a TL again due to their Couldn't-Care-Less attitude towards us.
  • My experience with Travel Lodge over the past five years has been positive and never have I had any cause for complaint. Seems excellent value to me and when we recently used the Heathrow Terminal 5 location it was a pleasant, enjoyable experience with cheerful staff and quiet clean facilities.
The lower prices asked do not equal lower standards. Whenever possible we will always use Travel Lodge.:T

It's great you've had only good experiences over 5 years ;) yet I think you're missing the point; what happens when things go wrong - how do they resolve it? That's a far more pertinent point than just saying they're great when you've had no cause to contact their CS.

Excellant value all round and if all the knockers keep their promise and NEVER use TL again, all the more £9 rooms for those that do.
Some people don`t know a bargain even when it hits them in the face.

I think for £9 I would have had less of an issue with the problems experienced.

However, as you will see looking back at the thread I paid significantly more than £9 for the room and thus expect value for money.
