Do not stay at Travelodge!

I always book whatever is the cheapest, one night at a time or a few nights together and always tell them on arrival how many nights I`m staying.
That way they program your key card for the whole period.
Will they do that? I usually end up booking a series of single nights at the same place, but they always insist that you have the cards reprogramed each morning. No big deal, but a minor inconvenience if you're in a hurry.0 -

Can`t say I`ve ever encountered this.
Although once at Edinburgh Central when we returned to the hotel on the fourth day we couldn`t get in our room after having three nights without a hitch.
The four nights were booked individually in one of the £9 sales, BARGAIN :beer:0 -

I think it has backfired though, as there are far more positive experiences than bad
I am sure the powers that be at Travelodge are still sleeping OK, despite your feeble campaign and your determination never to stay in a Travelodge again0 -

Thanks - I'll bear that in mind in a few weeks time when we next stay. It should be cooler by then, but has anyone found a way of getting the wretched windows open properly to get some air into the rooms (short of a crowbar, obviously). I do wonder how many suffocating people have actually used something like that, though, to get some air.0 -

you need to take a screwdriver with you
however opening the window only makes the blinds flap all night (or adds to the noise), so we tend to take a fan instead - you can borrow a fan from reception, but they are like gold dust
actually the last lodge we stayed at had sash windows, that opened a few inches top and bottom, so you got a bit of air

I stayed at the Uttoxeter travelodge on a sunday a few weeks ago with my partner and 2 children. The mattress bedding on the 4th bed (the pull out one) was dirty and clearly hadn't been changed. I took it off to change it with spare bedding in the room and the mattress was disgusting - stained with all sorts and even worn to holes in places  It was so bad my 2 year old slept on the floor on one of their sheets as it was cleaner - not clean but cleaner than the mattress!!! The bathroom tiles were mouldy, the floor was mouldy and coming away in the bathrom, the shower was just a trickle, the corridors were like being in a underground tunnel and the whole place had an awful musty smell to it.
The only positive thing about this one is its proximity to alton towers, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone - use the premier inn just a bit futher down the road, or one of the local b and b's!!!!
I got this room on a £9 deal so I wasn't expecting luxury but a I didn't think that a clean room was too much to ask for. I will never book with travelodge again - even at £9 because I do not feel its value for money!0 -
Ive stayed in Travelodge's all over the UK and never had a problem in any. Possiblt Carlisle was the worse maybe corridoor smelled of cats and it was on the wrong side of duel carridge way, but beds have always been lovely and comfortable. glasgow(paisley) and Edinbrough great, Newbury spot on. If i had to make any gripes I would say the baths are a little small, but thats just picking. Water always been hot and plenty of tea and coffee.
If you can get a room for 9 quid then you have done well and its better than sleeping in a tent. All the big powers they've silenced me. So much for free speech and choice on this fundamental human right, and outing the liars.0 -
Travelodge in Brighton was what I would imagine a Young Offenders Institution to be like. Also had minging shower curtain that clung to you and deposited bodily fluids from previous occupant over me.
Travel Inn in Brighton.......100% better.illegitimi non carborundum0
