My last two stays with Travelodge were appauling. Stayed at Thrapston and also Luton. I requested a full refund for both times....and got them, just by emailing! Refund was withing a week. Cant say as i would use them again, the toilet in Luton was disgusting.Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!0

Travelodge in Brighton was what I would imagine a Young Offenders Institution to be like. Also had minging shower curtain that clung to you and deposited bodily fluids from previous occupant over me.
Travel Inn in Brighton.......100% better.
There is no parking apart from £15 a night car parks. We were ok as I have blue badge and there are disabled bays not far up road where you can stay free for as long as you like.
I think the worst Travelodge I have been in was Basildon.Room dirty with sanitary towel in bin and used towels not sure about bedding either. Small stuffy room ugh.0 -
Last time I stayed in a travelodge the bed broke. One leg on the bed snapped when I sat on it and the corner of the bed fell to the floor. I only sat on the edge of the bed to watch tv as soon as I got in the room. No, I am not obese.
I went to reception and handed him the leg of the bed and asked to move rooms.Whether we win or lose, that we played at all was a winning decision.2011 wins £12,2922012 wins ...Thank you to all who post on here!!!! :A0 -

They put me in a disabled room with air conditioning so we didn't hear any noise and it was lovely and clean. It was just what we needed at time we had had two bereavements and wanted to escape for few days so bought this of an e-bayer. I had never been to Brighton and couldn't believe how many people were there.Liked the shops and pier and harbour. There are lots of noisy clubs about which weren't for me but there were also quite little bars and restraunts in the back streets.

I really liked the Brighton one, rooms a little on the small side compared to others Ive stayed in but plenty of space for me. Had a sea view but did not realise they had air con rooms - I brought a fan!
Agree the staff there were excellent - very helpful.
Worst Ive stayed in is Bristol central - only one I wont stay at again so far - staff were great but it was the other guests who spoilt it - groups of lads in their 20's and 30's there for the football - smashing glass bottles in reception, being abusive to staff and setting fire alarms off and chanting footie songs all night. I being on my own did not feel safe round them and my friends room on another floor was broken into (they sacked the cleaning lady said she had left the door on the latch all day) he had money stolen. Took a fight but he got it refunded and the cost of a 3 night stay but Its all put me off going there again!
Otherwise Ive always found Travelodge great value for money with nice staff.
Off to a London one for £9 next weekend:DSealed Pot Challenge number 8 Amount declared £365.50.

The mattress bedding on the 4th bed (the pull out one) was dirty and clearly hadn't been changed. I took it off to change it with spare bedding in the room and the mattress was disgusting - stained with all sorts and even worn to holes in places  It was so bad my 2 year old slept on the floor on one of their sheets as it was cleaner - not clean but cleaner than the mattress!!! The bathroom tiles were mouldy, the floor was mouldy and coming away in the bathrom, the shower was just a trickle, the corridors were like being in a underground tunnel and the whole place had an awful musty smell to it.
The only positive thing about this one is its proximity to alton towers, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone - use the premier inn just a bit futher down the road, or one of the local b and b's!!!!
I got this room on a £9 deal so I wasn't expecting luxury but a I didn't think that a clean room was too much to ask for. I will never book with travelodge again - even at £9 because I do not feel its value for money!
We stayed at Uttoxeter Travelodge 5 weekends ago for the Sun and Mon night this year was the first time at this location.
We had 2 rooms as there were 7 of us and we had no problems whatsoever! Bathroom was fine, bedding was fine (although we did only have one pillow each and when I asked for more was very begrudgingly given ONE extra for each room  - the lady did tell me they were fully booked out that weekend), no smells, nothing. My daughter (11) did overhear an argument between the receptionist and a customer at one point and it was the customer being rude while the receptionist remained calm (I wasn't with my daughter at the time, this is what she told me!)
I paid £30 per room per night and was very happy with that. It was just a base to sleep at for 2 nights so we could enjoy our days out, and as such was perfect. A friend of mine went around the same time and, saying she was on a budget, took her tent for herself, DH & 3 kids, 14, 12 & 10) and they paid £30 per night for a campsite!! I know where I'd rather have stayed!0 -
I thought I will put some coment here too. We`ve been using Travelodge for the last 6 years. I must say we were always happy with what we got. Apart from once in London, can`t remember which one it was. We had the most disgusting room down bellow in the cellers with the staff!!!!
It was smoky and absolutely filfy, but we didn`t make any issues.
The best one was in Sunbury super clean!!! two weeks after they opened. We booked the cheap room when we got there they were still a bit dissorganised and the kids bedding wasn`t there. I went to get it and ended up with a free breadfast for 4 of us!Only mentioned that I didn`t really want to sleep by the lift, but they were full. The very nice girl told the bloke by the desk that custamer was not happy so customer got a freebie, I could not believe my luck. Breckie was lush too.
I would stay in Travelodge anyday, staff has been always helpfull.0 -

Menu
Pre-cooked scrambled egg that gets a minute in boiling water inside the shrink-wrapped plastic, and has "hard skin" on it.
Pre-cooked sausages that get a minute in the microwave.
Grapefruit and orange segments that somehow avoid tasting of any recognisable fruit.
Tomato ketchup sachets in which the two largest ingredients are fructose/glucose and water.
UHT milk for the tea.
At least the toast was OK, as was the butter for the toast.illegitimi non carborundum0 -
We've just come back from a 2 day trip to legoland, and stayed at Bracknell Central travelodge on Friday night (£9 room).
Highly recommended, 7 miles from legoland, free parking, the hotel is only 18 months old so still has that new feel, nice rooms, very friendly staff who couldn't do enough to help, nice food.
Very good.
Stayed at Birmingham Central a couple of weeks ago for Sealife Centre, that was a different story. Shabby and tired, not that clean. However, as we again only used it as a base and paid £9 I didn't complain. If I'd paid any more I would not have been happy.0 -
My partner and I stay in Travelodges most of the time we stay overnight anywhere. We have stayed in their hotels in Edinburgh and North Weald and both have been fine. I'm a little reluctant to use them again however following an awful experience in August. We booked to stay in the new Harlow town Travelodge for one night, firstly to see my Mum for her birthday and also to bury my Dads ashes.
The hotel itself was fine, parking was easy and the check in was smooth. The bed however was the most unconfortable I have ever slept in, I got virtually no sleep and was almost in tears through the night as I was desperate to be in good shape for the following day.
When checking out we didnt have the presence of mind to complain as we had to be at the crematorium shortly to say goodbye to Dad. I just wanted to be out of there as soon as possible. I paid £55 for the night and to have such a bad experience was disgusting. They have the internet on computers now?! - Homer Simpson
