Have to be quick after they release rooms. When they do it goes in the email so make sure you're signed up :)

I wouldn't pay more than £29 for Travelodge rooms - above that price there are better quality places with greater value for money.

I'd rather take my chances in a TL loo, than a Wetherspoons pub at the end of the night.

You have to get things in perspective.

You have to book in advance. 21 days is the minimum for £19 rooms, but realistically it has to be at least a month, usually more. I've got rooms booked for March 2010.

You also have to pick where you are staying, city centre and popular holiday locations like the lakes aren't going to give out cheap prices. Their search tool is very useful here, something which Premier Inn could do with adopting for their £29 offers.

Stayed in Sheffield City Centre for the first time. In general very nice, apart from the bed which had a severe sag in the middle, but I'd like to think that is not typical of the entire hotel.

Also when I came back to my room on the second night, no towels! But reception sorted me out quickly with many apologies.

My view was of a giant brick wall, but hey, I wasn't staying in Sheffield for the views :p

I usually stay overnight about 2-3 times per week for work, so I'm always looking for the cheapest around. But I've yet to find anything that beats travelodge.

Even basic single bed accommodation in a pub is likely to set you back more than £40 per night. But with travelodge you get a double bed, en-suite etc.

So yes, I don't think much, if anything, can beat them.

yeah it is good in economic wise and I dont get any problem with them.
  • I think we can agree that TL vary from location to location. I agree with a poster just a few up, Cirencester gets full marks for me too.

This thread should have a sub-thread for which TLs are good and which ones to steer clear from. I know it would be doing TL CS job for them, but someone could then point them in the direction of the thread and maybe they'd get location specific managers to pull their finger out and sort stuff!

... I know, I know. It shouldn't be up to us, but people power speaks volumes. Let's face it, they are a bargain (most of the time) and I'm sure a lot of us aren't going to stop using them, but the above info for CS may help them improve the garbage ones. Oh wait... unless their CS sucks. Hmmm.

There's a long standing one over on the 'Overseas Travel' board (no idea why it's there instead of on this board)

I've moved it over to this board now - thanks for pointing it out :)
  • Only just seen this, but have to say we had a bad experience with Travelodge. We entered our room, which appeared spotless.....bathroom, however was a different matter. It hadn't been cleaned! There were dirty towels on the floor, hairs and small spatters of BLOOD in the shower pan (the film 'Psycho' came to mind!) We were promptly moved to another room.
The main automatic doors were jammed on 'open', so as it was New Year, reception was freezing. Breakfast room was just off reception, so next morning we still shivered, while eating breakfast with our coats on. Warm breakfast items were rapidly going cold.
Only pay and display car park. We needed to renew parking ticket early a.m Reception politely says they have no access to cash/change at all.
Staff are always very polite while saying 'no' to your request...
All of this spoils what is supposed to be a pleasant weekend away. Better to pay a bit more if possible, and stay with Premier Lodge - always reliable in our experience.
