  • As previously mentioned changes have been made through Companies House and the old Directors have been removed and new ones assigned.

The reason behind these changes is that the company has been sold and now obviously has new owners. The same nightmare still exists with not being able to get hold of anyone through any of their advertised phone numbers as they are either constantly still engaged or your kept on indefinite hold listening to that awful music, and if your really lucky you won't be disconnected.

Their 3 shops currently have a 25% discount on ALL display items plus £5 Delivery, but these can only be purchased by visiting the shops. They currently have notices in their windows stating that the reason for the discounts is due to "refurbishments"?

Their T&C's have recently been changed, stating that delivery is only to the door. Also any local area deliveries are carried out through a courier now, who will just leave the item on the door step regardless of if your in your 70's or 80's and regardless if the item is a washer or fridge freezer.

There are rumors that the business has been bought to be put into Administration/Liquidation.

So I'll leave it to yourselves to read between the lines in what may or may not be happening?
  • Looks like I had a lucky break. I spent several hours yesterday trying to order something but couldn't contact sales to get an answer to a query because of the phone queue. Sent them an email which was supposed to be answered in 24 hours - zilch. Glad I didn't contact them the day before.
My commiserations to the unlucky people who have unresolved problems with Jual - hope you get some happy resolution

Thought I would share my experience of this company over the last few weeks.. I did do some research and read this thread before ordering but because of the price difference (£60) and giving them the benefit of the doubt I'd try them anyway.... More fool me.

I ordered a cooker on 23-11-10. Which was out of stock, was informed on the phone a delivery to them from the manufacturer would take approx 7-10 days. This was fine with me. However I received the invoice though the post a couple of days later stating that delivery could actually take up to 4 weeks sometimes more! Not what I was told when I ordered, obviously this would put people off so they only inform you of this once they have your money.

Three weeks passed with no contact whatsoever from Dual, then out of the blue I get a call on 15-12-10 @ 12.25 from the delivery driver saying he is outside my house! I am however at work having not been informed that the delivery I had waited 3 weeks for was going to be made that day. After the driver informed me he could not wait the 20mins for me to drive back home, but he could leave the £420 cooker outside my house if I wanted I of course refused! I immediately contacted Dual to discuss and was told that someone from Customer Services would call me within the hour, an hour passes - no call, two hours...3 hours...No call. Waited till I got home and phoned them at 17.10 was greeted with a recorded message stating offices are now closed and phone line opening hours are 08.30-17.30 Monday-Friday. I'm calling at 17.10 on a Wednesday!?

Phoned them back @ 8.30am today on their aftersales line, which by the way is next to useless, it's either engaged on just rings out and I let it ring for over 3 minutes more than once. Phoned the main sales line again at 08.45 and had the same recorded message about 8.30-5.30 opening hours. Tried again at 8.50 and was on hold for approx 10mins before I finally got through and was told again that someone from Customer Services would call me within the hour. This time they did and at 09.37 they called me back. Explained the situation and I was told that they can redeliver but there would be a £35 redelivery charge!! Again explained that this was not my fault and was told that they had tried to contact me the day before (Tuesday) on the 2 numbers they had for me (A company landline number & my mobile number) both of which they claim "just rang" There are however no missed calls or messages left on my phone and no calls logged at my work number. There is categorically no way they would not be able to get through on my work number.

I know exactly when and at what times I have contacted Jual (Can they say the same about me?) and I'm 100% sure that they didn't try to contact me as they claimed but even if they did why do they think it is ok just to turn up unannounced anyway and just expect me to be in? Surely they should have contacted me by post or email then asked me to ring them to arrange a suitable time? I will not pay an additional £35 delivery charge for something that was not my fault so told them I wanted a refund - they said that's fine took my credit card details but then informed me they would only refund the £420 purchase price but not the £19 delivery charge. So now I have no cooker for Christmas and am £19 out of pocket.

My advise to anyone who is thinking of buying from this company is to think again. Yes they might be the cheapest but but like others have said cheap is not always the best and is it really worth all the problems?

Does anyone have any suggestions where I stand with this and what route to take to get my £19 back? I am thinking a trip to Trading Standards is imminent. Could I also choose to go down the route of the small claims court? I know it's only £19 but the convenience I now face, the fact that I hate to loose money in these sorts of circumstances and as a matter of principle I want the money back. Certainly a complaint letter will be dropping on their doorstep early next week and a few very negitive, but completely true reviews posted on various price comparison websites.

  • update:

i faxed them and asked them to ring me and gave a list of my numbers "so that i could complete the transaction"

anyway nothing but they rang the next day and i missed them, rang back and luckily after 10 minutes holding on i got through, told them to cancel the order and they did no questions asked.held my breath for a refund and that has now happened thank god.

never again will i use a little known independent company after that experience, after using the Co-op and seeing the difference in the levels of service then i know where my money goes next time.

i know all smaller companies wont be crap like them but a simple transaction turned into a nightmare and provided hassle i could have done without.

do not use this company until their customer service improves or at least they pick up the phone, Bin Laden would have been easier to contact!!

Their website is now showing the name appliance mania written over jual domestic. Was that there before?
    http://www.appliancemania.com/about-us/info_1.html.

    from july reviewcentre
    http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews239120.html
Appliance mania is a trading name of jual domestic. The wording of that review looks strangely familiar.
If that is one oftheir trading names, should it not be shown on companies house?

They are also known as Cooker Crazy http://www.cookercrazy.com/ but the website is in limbo, but suprisingly they still use the name/website on the invoices they send out.

Just been contacted by another review site stating they have been contacted by jual and that if i chose to leave my review of them on then the firm may take action against me. i chose to leave it on as i don,t give in to bully boy tactics.

I have had exactly the same problem wondering if the review forum were in Cahoots with this company at one point. My solicitor has provided me with a written review which breaks no laws on the subject and was prepared if I had to use the legal system to reference some of the reviews he had seen and check their validity if necessary

I have a post on here under ''Jual Domestics, Cowboy Company''
  • oh dear I really wished I had read this before I ordered my washing machine. The machine did get delivered the men did want to leave it on the doorstep but when I told them no-one was there to help me until the evening they did bring it in for me so no probs there the problem I have is the machine has broken twice now the first time I was sent the extra part the second time I can't get through the phone is constantly ringing have sent emails and nothing. It is the same problem as before as well so there is obviously a fault with the machine please help what next?
Make £5 a day in May total so far £2
  • "Without prejudice".

There seems to be something mighty fishy going on with Review Centre concerning Jual Domestics.

I last looked at their site in the last days of December and at that time there was 137 reviews and their score had gone down to 4.3 out of 5. The last seven reviews they had were poor ones.

I go into Review Centre today ( they have redesigned it ) and put in Jual Domestics. It says there are 140 reviews, so I click on the Jual Domestics name and it goes to a page where suddenly it says there are only 130 reviews and their score has increased again.

ALL of those 7 poor reviews have been removed !!!!

I re entered everything to make sure I was not going mad and seeing things!

This now suggests, in my opinion, that this review site and Jual Domestics have some kind of questionable arrangement.

I am really disappointed with them.

I think it is ludicrous to state on their site that they offer honest and impartial reviews. What a Joke! I personally will never trust any of the reviews about any company on this review site.

    What do others think?

I think the sweetest revenge on a company that apparently manipulates reviews in the way Jual do, is to keep bumping this thread up. It comes up fourth on Google, and stands out as the only independent review....
