My guess is that Jual will also try to challenge you about the legality of your rights to record a conversation.

Even if recording is illegal it does not make it inadmissible as evidence in courts. UK is not US - illegality of evidence collection does not preclude its use as evidence.

There are absolutely legal ways to record convrsations - such as putting on speakerphone and using dictaphone (dictaphone to the speaker also works) or pick up coil that sticks to the receiver.

The trouble is with review centre is that they always seem to give in to Jual Domestics even when you provide them with all the authentication which they ask for.

If you locate the blog by s5.net ( Links are provided by other MSE members in related forums ) you will see that review centre say that Jual Domestics are very clued up about legal stuff ( Well, I'm sure they have had ample practice as all they seem to be doing is challenging customer reviews ).

It would be a good topic for the top MSE how a (seemingly) top site gives in. If they do not want to fight businesses they could at least:

    1. Delete review but state that a review has been deleted at request of Jual Domstics. Any sensible person would view it as a warning sign. Remove any rating from them.

    2. Totally delete the busniness from their database.

As it stands they rate it at almost 5 stars - which is clearly misleading if they do not take into account the negative reviewes that they deleted.

So when potential buyers search for Jual Domestics - one of the first thing they see right on the google page is five stars - suspect many even do not bother to open the page - seeing five stars based on 128 reviews must feel very reassuring.

I did actually suggest to review centre awhile back that they no longer allow Jual to be on their database.

Strangely, I received no reply, must admit that annoyed me when they just ignored me.

When I was doing research into buying my tumble dryer I did feel reassured by the number of positive reviews that Jual had.

It's quite disconcerting and I kick myself for not questioning the fact that even a massive company like John Lewis, which is known for it's good service, did not get that many stars, let alone a tin-pot company like Jual. As I posted earlier the number of people actually bothering to leave a review for Jual just doesn't seem right compared to JL or Dixons etc who are multi-nationals and have not recieved many more reviews ( even not as many ) as Jual.

Heaven forbid!!! Do you think we have spoof reviewers for Jual :rotfl:

Best of luck with progress of your issue. Hope you kick their bums !!!!!
  • Thank you for this information. (I'm new to England, and I'm not yet familiar with consumer laws here.)

Yesterday I got an email from Jual saying that the item I ordered wasn't in stock and that I would have to phone them to find out when it might be shipped.

I'm going to have to cancel the order altogether...

Whenever "just ordered" situation applies as long as they did not deliver there is a right to cancel under distance selling regulations. (after they delivered usually further 7 days - but you would have to send back)

Alternatively when they deliver do not sign for it untill they deliver it to your property!!!! If they refuse to eliver - refuse to accept the item and demand a refund.

Better have a video camera ready to back things up if required.

I tried to leave a review on Juals as reviewcentre and got this from them:

Nice that I recorded that telephone conversation with Juals Domestic!!!
  • Having been unable to get through to this company on the phone for a couple of days I placed an order online. AFTER the order had gone through a message appeared telling me I had to phone to confirm the order! !!!!!!? Emailed to request a call but no response after 2 days so left in limbo having paid but unable to ring and confirm the order. Have now emailed to cancel. Wonder how long this will take!
If you do ring, their system is set to cut you off after about 9.5 minutes of queuing so if it's busy, you have very little chance of being answered. The prices are tempting but I would suggest only ordering by phone and make sure you confirm the item is in stock. Otherwise - buyer beware.

Agree totally, perhaps an additional thread titled "Review centre-have you been forced to remove your reviews?" for other people to add when they are forced to remove their reviews.I wonder how widespread this is

Hi - had a phonecall from Jual today - from someone quite senior.

They received my letter. It was my first letter to them straight after the phonecall during which I was refused exchange/refund for a machine that was faulty on arrival. Even though it was the first letter, as I do not like lengthy correspondence, it was a "letter before action" with a draft of a County Court Claim attached to show that I do know the procedure and that I am serious (companies do know that of those who thretern to sue about 1% actually sue).

So my today's experience was completely different - they quickly agreed to collect the washing machine and issue a refund. I hope that the employee who kept saying "it's not going to happen" just over a week ago is made aware of the situation.

    Hurray!

Good for you.... so pleased you've got a result.

Shows that Jual are just full of hot air.

    Well done.

Well done, perhaps money talks, and Jual are reading these threads-and some person with sense within the company realises the damage this bad PR is doing them.Well, they need to get with the 21st century or die.
  • Hi guys newbie here

well i too are in the midst of a bad experience at the hands of Jual, decided to give them a go after getting a good price for a Bosch dishwasher.

anyway ordered the appliance last weekend and got a call Monday to say i needed to call and confirm the order, then presumably to arrange delivery.

2 and a half days later, over 100 tries of their phones and an email have brought nothing not even a chance to talk to someone about it.lines are always engaged and you only get an answer message when everyone has gone home!!

ridiculous customer service and all confidence has been lost after deciding to use them as they seemed like a smaller company who would provide a quality service.

as it stands ive ordered the appliance from Co-op online for not much more and it will be delivered tomorrow morning(2 days after ordering), before ive had the chance to speak to Jual!!

obviously im going to cancel the order and get my money back when i eventually do speak to them but am wondering if i am likely to run into any difficulty doing this? in their own terms and conditions they state that they will give a refund prior to anything being dispatched and given that they havent spoken to me to arrange delivery im assuming this should be easy?

seems they are a cowboy outfit and vetting reviews on Reviewcentre has claimed another victim.appalling company dont try them!!
