remember to look all round the car when driving off after an emergency stop not just to the right. my worst moment was when i met a crowd of teenagers at lunchtime walking on the road and wasnt sure if i could blast the horn at them..lol didnt do that and passed anyway0

A friend drenched a cyclist by driving through a puddle instead of round it!!
His brother sent him a fake solicitors letter from the cyclist claiming for cleaning.0 -
Failed twice. Essentially the first time I was over confident, and the second time I was too nervous. Both times because of how I was feeling I made loads of mistakes that I normally wouldn't have made. The third time I relaxed, tried to chat to the examiner (successfully this time as I had the same guy all 3 times) and it went well.
But do move your head to show that you're using your mirrors.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

Took me six times
Once speeded! Once grabbed handbrake b4 totally emergency stopped and all the others were just cr*ppy little things adding up. Purely down to nerves, I finally passed with the flu [determined not to waste the fee!!] and I think I was relaxed in a kind of " don't stand a chance" sort of way!

i failed once in july 2003 - totally cocked up my reverse tound a corner and bay park !! looking back i dont think i was really ready at all ,was so nervous and not at all confident
i gave up then for a while lol then started having lessons again with another instructor who was fab
failed again in November 2005 on reverse round a corner again ! only 3 minors
finally passed 3rd time lucky on jan 4th this yearhad the chief examiner but he was so lovely ! had about 9 minors though !
i took kalms that time as recommended by my sister who also passed on her third attempt!
i do like to think they helped as i was a lot calmer / more confident in the weeks coming up to the test and on the day aswell
Good luck to the OP0 -

Seems like im a majority too, failed twice.
First time, got 2/3 majors and possibly half a dozen minors. I didn't think the examiner was very pleasant and argued with me in the car park before hand regardng the "show and tell". He asked me to check my indicators so I put on the hazard lights, to which he said I shouldn't do. This is contarary to the DVLA website that says you CAN do that. In all fairness, probably shouldn't have passed but he didnt help.
Second time, 1 major some minors. Took me down some narrow lanes and bridges, some of the worst in my town. New examiner, very nice and friendly, thought I was driving too close to the wall of the bridge and getting closer and leaned over to steer away.
Third time, same examiner as second time and I passed! Woo! Having done my route I had only done 1 maneovure pulling into the test centre I managed to look across and saw no majors. Then he asked me to reverse park in the test centre. So nervous, knew I was so close to passing ... and I did it. Driving instructor had a big grin on his face whilst I was doing it so I knew it was going right. lol.
Incidentally, what maneovures were people asked to do? 3 tests, 2 different examiners and everytime I did 3 point turn and reverse park.0 -
I've just failed for going into 5th instead of third!!

What made me want to do it in the first place was changing my car from a 2.0 litre manual to a 5.3 litre automatic. Although I loved posing around in the latter I soon realised I didn't really have a clue how to drive it!
I won't let my kids near a motorbike until they've got an IAM car test passed. Only that will give them the observation they need to survive. Can I help?0 -
