Do you have operating system disc?
I have turned it off, I'll try it again in a few minutes.
I didn't even know about operating system discs, until you mentioned them in post 28... ................................... MSE MARTIN LEWIS ... :A ... THANK YOU.......................0 ................................... MSE MARTIN LEWIS ... :A ... THANK YOU.......................0

What does it say on the bottom line of that screen?
Did you save the change you made? -usually you have to press f10 then enter? If you didn't you may have to remove that battery again - just for a minute. Press that tab with a screwdriver and the battery should spring out.
If you do this and select defaults look and see how to save and exit.0

It didn't give me an option to save anything, I just pressed enter as you said, the box dissapeared, then imediatally the screen went to the initial message.
I'll have a go at removing the battery again, and come back to the thread again to follow your instructions, and just hope for the best.
I didn't press F10 then enter, I thought I just had to press enter...
Many many thanks for all your time, effort and patience with me... :A
It really is very much appreciated.
The bottom line of the screen says...
 Onboard IDE, IRQ14,15 Slot 3 Ethernet, IRQ11
I think that is what it said before, I'll just re read it again now.
EDIT: Yes it is exactly the same.................................... MSE MARTIN LEWIS ... :A ... THANK YOU.......................0

That's because you pressed [F2] to accept the defaults. If you had hit [F1], you'd have seen the BIOS setup screen instead. Then you would have had to 'save and exit' as spakkker suggested.MARTINS_DOLL wrote: »It didn't give me an option to save anything0

Hiya again, yes I realised just after I posted that it was spakkker who posted that message...
I'm just getting in a muggadore with who's replying to me since you logged out.
I'll give it another go with removing the battery, and come back to the thread for instructions.
Many thanks to you and everyone who is trying to help me with this problem, you are all :As
I'll let you know once I've removed the battery again, and hope that you or one of the other FMs are still online!................................... MSE MARTIN LEWIS ... :A ... THANK YOU.......................0

Tanglefoot -Hi , I guess that if f2 is selected then no need to f10 it or anything?
Tho' if you selected the boot device that would need saving and exiting?0

Hi guys, I'm glad to see that 2 of you are still online!
That message has now gone having removed the battery for the second time, and it now says again...
 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU, 1.80GHz
 Del:Setup F8:Boot Menu F12:Network boot
 CMOS/GPNV ChecksumBad
 Press F1 to Run SETUP
Press F2 to load default values and continue
What shall I do next please, as the keyboard isn't lit, nor the mouse, but as before the mouse and keyboard lights up if I move the mouse connection slightly.
Could one of you please give me an easy 1 2 3 type steps to follow, being as it went wrong previously.
Many thanks again...................................... MSE MARTIN LEWIS ... :A ... THANK YOU.......................0

Have you got USB keyboard and mouse? Can you use the old ps2 -round connecter- mouse and keyboard just for now?
It may be that you have to go into setup and select optimised values - if it's there. Then save and exit.0
