Can't see any error messages... which isn't necessarily good news in this case. You may need a new computer.

If you're feeling adventurous, switch the system off and remove one of the side panels to expose the interior. Somewhere on the motherboard will be a small coin-shaped battery. Remove that battery for a few moments, then put it back in. Replace the side panel, switch the computer back on and you may find yourself back in business...
...but I seriously doubt it.0 -
Yeah i'd go with above, sounds to me like hardware damage or possibly a BIOS problem. But as above, I have my doubts.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

If I can get the side off (Need a screwdriver I think) is it going to cause any problem with my laptop, as the wireless router is connected to my old PC, and I'm frightened of losing my internet connection altogether...
My old PC has everything on it re the installation of AOL and passwords etc. When I had a few problems with the laptop, AOL techies got me on the old PC to correct the error.
Also, which side should I try to remove?
Many thanks for your help and patience...................................... MSE MARTIN LEWIS ... :A ... THANK YOU.......................0 -

If you're looking at the front of the case, it's probably the panel on your left. Examine the rear of the case: the side you need to remove is on the side opposite the mass of sockets that is the motherboard's backplate.MARTINS_DOLL wrote: »which side should I try to remove?
Should that not be sufficient explanation, here are some pictures.

I'll give it a go, but as I said above I'm worried that I'll do something wrong and lose my internet connection altogether.
Being disabled, I rely on my laptop, for so many things.................................... MSE MARTIN LEWIS ... :A ... THANK YOU.......................0 -
I'm pretty sure I can see the battery, but it's in an alkward place to view properly, and I'm not sure how to remove it.

Hold on, it's a laptop or a desktop?
"My old PC had a power surge" had me thinking its a desktop?“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I have a desktop & a laptop. The desktop is the one with the problems.
I mainly use my laptop, but if you read my earlier posts, all of my AOL data & passwords are stored on the desktop, and AOL techies usually get me back on the desktop to rectify some connection faults with the laptop.
Also the wireless router is connected to the desktop which gives me the use of the laptop.
Hope that all makes sense!
Can you advise me as to how I remove the battery please as -TangleFoot- has logged out?
Many thanks...................................... MSE MARTIN LEWIS ... :A ... THANK YOU.......................0
