Its very quiet on here today!
Scruffy - I hope your mum is better soon. Its horrible when your parents are ill, I get this horrible sense of panic if my own mum is unwell. Its true what someone else mentioned too, its difficult when they are independant because we are all bought up to do as we are told, but there comes a time when the roles are reversed. I hope it works out OK.
I have been to Lidl and Aldi and they were very quiet, but my MIL reckons everyone is at Asda. The kids have a huge Easter egg mountain in the kitchen, which Im sure they will want help with. (or maybe not) Its great when they are babies and all the mad relatives buy them mammoth easter eggs that they cant possibly eat, and they are too young to notice that mum and dad (mainly mum) are helping them to eat it all. When they reach the ages of 7 and 10 they can count them! :EasterBun
Yesterday I cleaned all my windows inside and downstairs outside with hot water and vinegar. I washed all the nets too, (due to an absolutely mammoth gas and electric bill I cant afford to buy new ones now so I have had to make do with Glo white, but at least I know that they are clean!) The sun is smiling here in Brum so OH is mowing the lawn and weeding and Im going to pop upstairs and have a quick tidy round in a minute, before starting the hm chinese I have planned. OH has repotted all my plants, I now have a porch full of tomato plants, sunflowers, sweet peas, allysum, lupins, geraniums and dahlias. The garlic and strawberries are in planters outside and hopefully OH will plant my raspberry and tayberry canes later too. When the mini veg plot is dug over Ive got lettuces, runner beans, carrots and peas to go out too.
Happy Good Friday everyone! :easter: :easter_ba :icotbaske :easter_os0 -
Good Afternoon Everyone.
PP and VickyA enjoy your trip
Hugs to those needing one.
We have had a really busy day here. We went to Church this morning for a special childrens service. Then popped into Home Bargains, they were selling Libbys Apple Juice for 29p. Then went into town to the Health Food Shop got everything I needed thank goodness as I was running out of DS2 Dairyfree spread.
I've been out in the garden for ages mowing and weeding also sorted out the strawberry pots the new growth is now coming through.
Got 3 loads of washing done and dried and baked some scones and buns. Homemade pizza for tea then fresh pineapple.
Got loads done, a bit of sunshine certaintly gives me the kick up the bum I need.
Best go, the pizza is ready.MFW 1/5/08 £45,789 Cleared mortgage 1/02/13

Happy Good Friday everyone :easter_os
Scruffy in some ways looking after ageing parents is more worrying than caring for children. You can only do your best & feeling guilty about what you haven't been able to do is natural but unjustified. You need to take care of yourself first as you're no good to your mum if you let yourself become ill.
I've been in a mammoth baking frenzy the past couple of days ready for our friends coming round tomorrow but I'm about there now. I've made 6 pizza bases & have chicken marinading in cajun spices to top 2 of them, I'm making 2 tuna ones & 2 veggie ones too so that should cater for eveyone. I've made 6 ciabatta loaves, an everyday loaf for me & DH & I currently have a HUGE chocolate cake baking.
Apart from the kitchen floor - which is covered in flour- the house is clean so hopefully I should have a slightly more relaxing day tomorrow before they get here. Just the cake to decorate, & pizzas & salads to put together & jacket potatoes in the oven.
I love entertaining but it's hard work.
The weather had been wonderful here in Leics today & I even sat in the garden (on the new patio of course) to eat my lunch, the first time this year :j Here's hoping we have a similar day tomorrow then at least we'll be able to enjoy a little time outside with everyone. I LOVE this time of year.
I'm feeling really good today, BIG HUGS to everyone who isn't having such a good time.
Edited to say :j :j :j :j :j I've just become a 'regular' WOW I feel like an old hand now.

Dobie - my goodness, I'm actually shocked that you've only just become a "regular"! It seems like you've been here for ages
Congrats on your second star
(you get your third at 551 posts).
Church was great this afternoon. One of the priests told us that the choir "gets better every year". The other priest, who did the sermon, went on a bit and sent a little boy (about 6yo) in the third row off into a deep sleep...The little lad was full of beans and running round the crypt creating havoc afterwards during "tea and hot cross buns" though!
Then helped with the church "housework" - moved a load of flowers out of the chapel where they held yesterday's vigil, to the front of the church so they can set it up for Easter. And folded up loads and loads of crimson cloths which have been covering up all the crosses in the church for the past two weeks. Some of these were on crosses which were high up, and although I offered to go up the ladder myself the chivalrous (chauvinistic?) priests wouldn't hear of it, so I had to put up with watching ageing overweight priests with bad knees clambering up ladders while I (young and in good health) stood at the bottom of the ladder catching things that were being passed down to me
Got to have some food now. Forgot to buy spuds before the shops shut, so it will be smoked mackerel, a brown bread roll and broccoli.Operation Get in Shape

evening everyone and happy easter.:easter: :icotbaske
Have only just been able to get on as we too have been a bought a wireless router and DH has been setting everything up. DS1 has got his laptop from Dell and we've been sorting that out. So now he can chat on his messenger, DH can do work stuff and I can read MSE - but quite glad i couldnt get on earlier as I wouldnt have got anything done too!!!!
Chucked it down with rain her all morning in E.London, sunny this afternoon though.
Got a microphone in tesco yesterday for the kids 97P!!!! put that on and they had greatfun recording their voices etc!!
No one has got me an easter egg, and the temptation of knowing that the kids chocolate is sitting there is too much (resist resist the urge!!!) :EasterBun

Morning peeps
Just popped on whilst I get ready for work. Finish work at 1 today so not too bad.
Our plans yesterday had to change due to inclement weather so we ended up at an indoor shopping centre instead. Got a few new tops and some desperately needed make up.
Gotta go just now but may pop back later.0 -
Morning!
The only reasoa im awake so early is because I gotta work today - boo! Only till 12 though - Yey!
Dont have a lot planned for the day - yesterday I treated myself to new make up and some of that tanning body lotion, had my nails done, a new necklace and booked myself in for a cut and colour on Monday. I of course maximised the £20 of boots vouchers and went for no7, one of the eye pen things so I look awake, some cool eyeshadow and as id 'spent' over £10, I got a mascara free. I cant find my tweezers though and really need to do my eyebrows - I hope I havent lost them as they are really good tweezermans. I also cleaned the house and did three loads of laundry so I felt it was justified!
I think ill just spend this afternoon doing a bit of ironing and watching a movie, and then might take a long bath and pamper myself even more. The rest of the weekend is not planned out so I think im going to relax, take myself out for a nice walk and start revising. Im feeling very pleased with my pampering, sometimes a girl needs to spend as much time on herself as she does on cleaning the house!
Have a nice day all!

Morning all
All is quiet in the house of Pooky - all our guests are still asleep and the amount of booze that DH put away last night should render him unconcious until lunch time!! Don't you just love it when they do that!
Not much to report in the way of OS, need to shove the BM on in a bit, make a trifle for tomorrow and make a chicken and pasta bake for tea....
Thick fog here this morning so probably won't venture far until it clears (if it does)
Have a good one all :EasterBun (I do like this smiley - sums me up completely)"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0
