PP - hope the party was lots of fun.
Its nice to back to MSE after 5 days away in London. I got up early this morning and went to car boot sale as my dyson died just before I went away. I have a cheap vacuum cleaner, but it wasn't picking up the cat hairs.
Managed to get a dyson 'animal' for £30, so that wasn't too bad. Doesn't really seem that much different to old dyson.
Apart from a mid afternoon stop for a glass of wine with a friend, I have been hard at the washing, housework and cooking all day. Hoping to get done, so I can go to vitality show in Glasgow tomorrow.0 -
Well done Bargain Rzl, it's always lovely to get a little bit of surprise extra money - enjoy it. Well done on finding the matching wine glasses too, I like it when things like that happen. They say good things come in threes so maybe you're gonna get another pleasant surprise soon?
My day has been fairly lazy so far. I did manage a trip to the recycling place however they don't take old paint as they can't get a company to take it so it just gets sent to landfill in the general rubbish. I have lots left after I got my house painted, there is enough in some of the tins to do a few small rooms. It's good Dulux or Crown stuff too - it's certainly not rubbish, just left over. Not sure what to do with it now but I don't want to put it in the bin. Does anybody know of any N.Ireland charities I could pass it to? I'll give freecycle a go too, though the nearest active group is about 40 miles away.
I also managed a trip to the dry cleaner place - I left a double duvet in for washing after my kitten Dylan piddled on it. That was in January, and it's been there ever since, so I was rather surprised that it was still there. V.kind of them to store it for me - ahem - but they charge a tenner to wash a duvet - what a rip off! I've got two more to get cleaned, but I think I'll wait until I have some leave and wash them myself at a laundrette, should save a few bob.
On impulse I decided to go to Curves this afternoon to see what their facilities were like and to get an idea of their charges. Waste of time, they were closed....grrrr!!!!!! I really want to tackle my weight but if I am going to join any sort of fitness club then it needs to have generous opening hours cos there is no point in joining something which is closed when I can go! In a previous life I was a member of a David Lloyd club - it was an extortionate £75 or so per month but it didn't close until 10.00 pm. I was never out of the place, and I worked out it cost me about £3 per visit so actually it was excellent value for money considering what was included (swimming pool, sauna, weight/cardio machines, swanky changing rooms, car parking, free papers, nice caff to sit in and relax...). I was a lot slimmer then too of course.
LouB, sorry to hear about that fracas on the bus. It's totally uncalled for that people should start fighting like that. At least you are unhurt and that nice man did his best to look after you. I would have cried too, it is an unnerving experience to witness such unnecessary anger so close. Perhaps a self-defence class like JW is doing might help you feel empowered. Even if nothing similar ever happens again at least you will know you know how to look after yourself. I am one to talk though, I'm too lazy to go to one though I know it would do me good.
Skystar, congrats to your OH on being able to return to work. It sounds like you had a v.worrying time for a while. Hopefully the new manager is sufficiently competent to balance the books without making staff shoulder the brunt of problems.
Got to go now, wm is just about to finish, see you all tomorrow.

I'm not having a good day at all, maybe i should go to bed and hope to wake up to a better day tomorrow. sob sob.
Got no virgin wine to drink, had awful telephone conversation with them this morning, and have now just spent 2 hours trying to get something sorted out with Orange Customer Service/website!!!
Its been glorious weather outside and ive been stuck in here with idiots on the phone!
I hate it as it puts a dampener on your weekend doesnt it?! feeling s--te now, got massive headache.
So much for my "positive thinking" era
Sorry to go on all, dont wish to be a grump!! moan over.0 -

Try to turn the whole thing into a positive:
~ weather forecast for tomorrow is similar to today, so whatever you *might* have chosen to do outside today, you now have *all* of tomorrow to do it in
~ you've got all the awful phone calls out of the way so they are no longer hanging over you (well done on doing that :T )
~ do some deep breathing excercises, have a relaxing bath with lavender oil to ease away the stress and relieve the headache; while soaking in the bath, consider all the pleasant things you can do tomorrow now that you have freed up some of your time.
Good luck~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hi Eveyone,
Glad to hear that your daughters party went well Penny Pincher. I have had a day in town with my DS and friend. I was annoyed though, as i went into our local indoor market to get a banana for my son. I only had 25p on me until i went to the bank, the banana was 23p, but the man on the stall would not accept my 5p piece as it was slightly dirty! I told him where he could politely put his banana and left!
I was glad to get home today, and I'm now having some ME time on the computer. Lets hope tomorrow is a better day.
Best Wishes

Thanks for that Queenie, was well appreciated - cheered me up seeing your reply - yes in fact it did spur me on to do all the boring checking bank statements, filing loads of paperwork I had left for a while and started doing a list of everything that I want to put onto a spreadsheet/calendar type thing to keep track of when i have paid bills/so i know when they are due to be paid next and then shop around for best deals beforehand (hopefully) well thats the plan - next step is putting on computer spread sheets.
Didnt have bath though, was busy looking at the kitkash thread on here! too many pages to go through!
PP - glad to hear you had a lovely party.0
