    Hiya

The last few days has been so humid. It's summer all over again. I thought a storm would break tonight as sometimes after that it cools down again but no such luck. Work was busy today, went to the hairdressers afterwards. My hair looks lovely :p even if I do say myself. Unfortunatly once I wash it, it never quite looks the same. Had a trim, foils & she straigtened it. Cost $87  But it cheered me up.

I think ES partner & DGS are popping in tomorrow. Should be an interesting visit. :silenced: I will get going. Hope you enjoy your day everyone.

Tootles I had the same problem years ago, it was terrible. It's a lot better now but I do have *stages* when it comes back and as you say it's hard to break the cycle. You get sooooo tired of being weary during the day. I hope you get it sorted.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

Queenie, I am lucky we live just round the corner from the surgery, so if I need an appointment I just run round the corner at 8.30, that way I do not have to hang on the damn phone to find that all the appointments have gone.

Sadly, that wouldn't work with our surgery :( The surgery doors don't open until after 0830hrs but the phone lines open at 0800hrs - I managed to get through on the phone this morning by 0812 :j only to be told "all appointments have gone" :( I explained that I'd been trying since last week but all she could suggest was 1) phone back tomorrow and then finally, 2) write and make my thoughts/experience known ;) :rotfl: Ooooh that'll be a letter going out today then

    - will your doctors not make an appointment for tomorrow today?
Ah! Now that would be moving into "pre-booked appointment" (pba) mode  To make 1 of the available 2-only pba's per day requires notice of approx. 4wks!!!

Yesterday and today, I made it known that I must see the Dr before next week (my meds run out Friday). I can't have a repeat prescription without being seen, GP's orders (and as things have changed, it would be unwise to even try :(:( )

Today, I am still finding the funny side, at a stretch ;) I'm only really worried that with the system they have, I could be equally twarted on Thurs and Friday yet no one can advise me on what I should do if that happens and I end up with no meds at all!

:rotfl: @ Pork Chop!! Wishing PC many happy munching days and a very full tummy with no flatulence ;)

  • thats an awful doctors system!!
here the doors and lines open at the same time so as long as you ring within the first 30 mins of opening you are gauranteed an appointment that day.

if its your regular meds can you not get a repeat prescription? even if they say they want to see you/you need a review they should be able to issue a small doses worth of prescription for you.
we had this problem with dh's medicine when he wasnt able to see the doctor due to working hours but was due his review....when we explained they issued about 7 days worth i think to tide him over until he could get there....maybe your doctors could do this? i would imagine they would if its imnportant meds.

    Good morning everybody :hello: :D

Hope you're all doing okay this morning. Hugs to all those with rubbish doctors' appointment systems! Ours tends to be pretty good - lines open at 8:00 and generally if you manage to get through soon afterwards they can often fit you in soon after the surgery opens.

    - Breakfast was a takeaway bacon sarnie and coffee, which I was supposed to have given up this week
    - Lunch will be reheated chicken pasta bake. Anybody know any elephants or armies who like chicken pasta bake? Cos I think I made enough last night to feed either one of the above :D It filled two oven dishes and made six huge portions.
    - One of our directors is retiring and the leaving party is tonight :j :j :j which, while I think it's a dumb idea to have a big drinks do on a "school night", should at least mean a whole evening of drinks and buffet paid for by the company :j :j :j

Which is just as well because my week of trying to live on £30 (+£3.52 I had left over from last week) is not going as well as it might :o I know my budget is actually £50, but in a week where I have unusually few known outgoings I'd love to come in waaaaay under, so I know that in busier weeks I can still come in under budget IYKWIM. I seem to have been frittering all the spare cash away on non-essentials...

So far this week I have spent on essential items:
£1.10 for emergency black tights to disguise large embarrassing hole in trousers.
£4.94 on food at Lidl and Tesco (including 40p for £3.98 worth of decent pork sausages :D)
£1.75 on batteries to resuscitate the remote control for the digital video recorder

    And on non-essential items:
£0.90 on a Solero ice lolly to satisfy a sugar craving
£2.49 on panini from Benjy's on Monday when I went straight out after work
£2.15  on delish honey-coated cashew nuts
£2.00 on lottery tickets for both this week's draws
    £2.95 on beer
£1.80 on a bacon sarnie and coffee this morning

This leaves me with £13.44 for the rest of the week if I want to have £20 left over! Which I would say will be another £5.00 for groceries, about £6.00 for beer on Friday night, £1.10 for my newspaper on Saturday, and £1.29 for a takeaway coffee to take to choir practice on Sunday morning, leaving me with a grand total of 5p :D I MUST NOT SUCCUMB TO ANY MORE BACON SARNIES.

    Catch you later
    Rzl xx

  • in that case tell them you NEED to see a doctor.you dont need to explain to the receptionist either-tell them its private but its urgent and you NEED to see your doctor.
all doctors hold back several appointments at lunch and end of day times as well as a few others......they are lying if they tell you they dont, demand one....if you need meds you need meds.

That may well be the case in your area, Learning. That is *not* the case in ours. Nor would I accuse my GP, or anyone else for that matter, of lying, most especially without any proof ... wouldn't want to be taken to court for libel or slander ;)

  • i'll not comment further on the doctor thing....i was only trying to help as i know for a fact that all doctors practices -nationwide- do this and they are duty bound to keep some emergency appointments as i suggested.

Nice day and just about to hang out the washing.

Had an email from Virgin wine cancelling my order so very disappointed as it would have been a fantastic bargain - especially as I only ordered one case so as not to be greedy and others ordered and got 4 cases or more!

Going to try to advertise some books on Amazon later and need to get some stamps and sort out a few bills.
