No one was implying that PP was "stupid".
I'm not quite sure how my post of genuine concern has ended up being mis-interpreted and provoked such a reaction.[/QUOTE]

taurusgb wrote:Something REALLY weird has got me VERY worried.....Last week I was happily rolling pastry in the kitchen when my mobile phone rang...mobile was in my handbag, with keys locked, and I was the other side of the room...when I answered it, conversation went like so:-
Me:- Hello
Unkown Man:- Hello, yes?
Me:- Can I help you?
Unkown Man:- What? You're calling me! what do you want?
Me:- No I'm not, my phone rang, I answered, you were on the other end
Unkown Man:- Well I don't know what's going on..(BTW the man had a very pronounced Scottish accent)
Unkown Man then hung up. Well at the time I just put it down to one of those odd things that happen, I tried to check the number calling but it was with- held, so I thought no more about it until last night, when my 15 year old DD came home after an evening round at her friends and said that a really peculiar thing had happened with her mobile phone....she then proceded to tell me a mirror version of what had happened to me last week!
Now, I didn't tell anyone about this (seemed so something and nothing I forgot about it straight away), so she was as shocked as I was when I told her exactly the same thing had happened to me last week.
Both me and my DH find it very disturbing, given that our telephone numbers are not at all the same, so it couldn't be a miss dial, in both cases the number calling was with held, we neither of us give out our mobile numbers to all and sundry, and we don't know any Scottish men! Both the mobiles are registered to me, so I telephoned Virgin mobile and related the tale to them, but they seemed to think I was pulling their leg and didn't seem to take it at all seriously, but I can't believe that such a coincidence could happen!
I'm mostly worried because of my daughter, if it was just me getting a peculiar call on ONE mobile phone I would be able to shrug it off...but I really, really don't like the fact that my daughter is receiving them too.
I know the man didn't make threats or anything, but just the fact that I don't know how he got hold of both mobile numbers is scaring me ...any words of wisdom would be very welcome - even if it's only to tell me to stop being daft, because the more I think about it the more I'm worried, and because of my daughter I can''t STOP thinking about it.
That happened to me once, but the strangest thing was that the call was from my boyfriend, we were sitting right next to each other, and both our mobiles were on the table and no one would have been able to set it up. It was strange, and T-mobile thought we were kidding and had no explanation for it.The call never appeared on either of our bills too!

Good Evening,
Well have had a really good day and a really bad day all at the same time.
CLient didnt pay us so had to take a cash advance on cc to pay wages & essentials bills (our pyt will be a week late apparantly) oh had slight accident in his van (was his fault but insurance in our business is a real nightmare) and client is trying to get us to do same work but for less money!
When things like this happen I get really stressed for a few minutes then manage to put everything in perspective and be glad that I have healthy oh & children and a nice house and enough food to eat.
On good side have had a good os day, children have been happy playing in the garden so didnt have to go out and spend a fortune. DD aged 10 helped me make their dinner from scratch, pasta with tuna onions and peppers in a cheese sauce and then some choc cupcakes (once upon a time I would have bought a cake mix  )
Have cleaned up and got washing in (another first as used to sometimes leave washing on the line for a couple of days!)
All washing is done but sadly not the ironing - but hey it will be still be there tomorrow.
Think will take the kids somewhere tomm so not so os but they deserve it - probably the pictures - they want to see the pink panther. Anyway - old days would have meant dinner out then the pictures along with a least a £10 worth of sweets but now will have lunch at home then go into town.
Oh also forgot - am training DD in doing housework - at mom she is enjoying it we'll see how long that lasts.
Have a nice evening.0 -
I have been writing down my expenditure for the last week and a half, an even though I am being good making meals from scratch and buying special offers at Lidls and Asda etc., I still seem to be spending a lot on non-food items such as birthday cards and wine!!!Think we may have to reduce our drinking as I would rather use the money for days out with the kids. :j
Have suddenly twigged that my food shopping is not the [problem really!
Oh well, at least now I can try to solve the problem. :T
I shall keep reading everybody's ideas cos they are really helping me, and it is great to know there are so many people out there, with very different circumstances, and that everybody helps each other out with advice.
Sometimes you just need someone to talk to and offload some stress.

Morning Everyone!
Didnt have a good night so came downstairs in the end on me new rollercoaster ride:eek: Nurse is coming earlier at 7 this morning...so 45 minutes and counting.
WM has been put on (by OH) and will be hung on the line, DW needs emptying and toilet has been cleaned. Have SIL here today and she's doing a few jobs around the house and me ironing.
OH & DD are off to London today 2 visit 2/3 places and eat their lunch at Trafalgar square. OH bought a posh sarnie from Asda yesterday reduced to 30p, so just have to sort DD's marmite sarnie out, but am sure I have one or two in the freezer..LOL. Will stick in some fruit, crisps and a Kitkat each. DD wants a flask of hot chocolate made too as these are about £2-£3 depending on where you get them from. Wish I was going, but never mind as long as she's having a good time-Im fine!
Party nearly all done, just the food items to cook on either Friday/Saturday and the decorations to put up. We havent spent alot on pressies (would normally chuck £200-£300 on the CC:rolleyes: ) but have managed to get her a Bratz doll (reduced to £9), CD (£2), Narnia DVD (£8), some Bratz perfume/bubble bath and jewellry (reduced £1.50 in Boots) and a set of Bratz Pj's (Sister got them off her supplier £2)..so in total £22.50 and some great stuff!
Breakie:Scrambled Egg and Granary Toast
Lunch:Baked Spud, salad, ham, cheese, coleslaw. OH/DD pack lunch
Dinner:Toad In Hole, Roasties, Parsnip, Cabbage and Carrots
Anyway, got to go and hope everybody has a great day with as little disruption as possible:D Take care folks! Hugs.

Morning PP & everyone else to follow.
Sorry you didn't have a good night PP but maybe a day with noone else to look after will be a good thing for you. You can do exactly how much or how little you choose & look forward to hearing all about their day when DD & DH get home. I'm sure DD will be thrilled with all her birthday presents, sounds like some very canny shopping, well done.
I got home earlier than I expected last night so I went out on my bike & had a lovely ride in the last of the day's sunshine. I hope you enjoyed your ride yesterday thriftlady, I often feel I don't want to go but I don't think I've ever regretted it when I make the effort. Once I'm out of the door, I love it & I'm at the stage now where I can feel the strength coming back in my legs after not riding much over the winter & it feels great. That's what motivates me to keep going, I know how much I love the feeling of being strong & able to go miles under my own steam.
Another day at work for me today but never mind, if I don't work I can't afford to play!
Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning PP and Dobie :j
Lovely sunny day here again (if a little chilly brrr!)
3 more days left at work, then I get just over a week off :j :j :j It will be lovely to do a little OS (ie massive spring clean :rotfl: ) and spend some time with DD.
DD is dressed and ready to go to the childminders, DH is dressed and making his breakfast (scrambled egg whites on toast  ) and I'm having a coffee and a surf
Lunch will be packed lunches, and dinner tonight will be scampi and chips (scampi was BOGOF at Sainsburys)
DH is hoping to get a phonecall today to see if he's got the job (I'm keeping everything crossed for him)
Must dash and get ready for work - take care everyone!!
ByeeSquares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0 -
Good morning to all
Still very much a newbie here and not able to post everyday but I hope to join in sometimes. It is a glorious day here in ND, sun just rising and whilst my house is still in the shade, the fields on the opposite side of the valley are already basking in what is coming my way. WM on already, and second load sorted and ready. Number 1 son has a day off today but he wont be a problem and will soon go and find his friends. Number 2 has school, dont break up in this area till Friday. Drinking my first cup of coffee for the day, always the best one! Going to trawl the shelves of Tesco later, may even cycle down, and then off to see young nephew in a school play this evening.
Have a great day all, especially you PP. I dont think we have ever met here, but I have read posts by you, and you seem a very brave and cheerful lady indeed.

Dobie - have a good day at work
stressedoutmumof1 - 3 days to go - hurray!!!
skipkoo - welcome and i'm sure you will love it on here
Clean up day today - got both DD's home ill today (got a phone call from school yesterday afternoon to go and pick up DD2 as she had stomach pains and a headache)
they are both tucked up in bed so only got DS to sort out this morning. Its my last night helping to run a Brownie pack tonight i decided it was time to do stuff for myself so hopefully i will be able to spend more time with the family doing things as a unit rather than running here, there and everywhere. The children still have swimming lessons and football so i don't think it will affect them too much. WM to go on today and some cooking to do but thats it.
B - cereal
L - wrap
D - baked potatoes with cheese and beans
Have a good day everyone
