    Afternoon.

Just had loads of fruit for my lunch (trying to be healthy at the moment). For tea its cumberland sausages with whatever OH decides to go for. Probably will be salad perhaps with some potatoes, but all depends on how adventerous he is feeling today.

Its not a major start in emptying the freezer, but I need to clear a space for the weekend for my HM chicken pies. THe plan is to have a roast chicken one day and the rest will be made into pies with chicken soup, and possibly some peas and carrots, topped with puff pastry and them returned to the freezer.

Quick question: I am going to use some frozen puff pastry will it be okay to defrost this slightly, roll out to top the pies and then return the pies to the freezer before cooking? Or would it be best to cook the pies, then put in the freezer and re-heat when needed?

    Hi All,
Great Idea Nelski to get all the lurkers posting.:T ...Generally I lurk and occasionally post on the daily thread, but never feel that what I have to say is interesting to anyone else. I must admit though I read every single day;), and it is nice to have a welcome like nelski's op.

I try to live life the OS way but find my biggest problem is starting on these boards and staying on them till hours later:eek: .
I am a SAHM 5 days a week and work 2 days when my DH looks after our two angels:rolleyes: (DD3yrs and DS 10mths)

    So today plans are,
A quick whip round as the house in on the market and 30 mins now could save hours later.
Get the washing hung out on the line as its is beautiful drying weather,
Take the two little Ron's out for at least half an hour fresh air as it is my new april resolution, just gotta avoid the corner shop somehow..
Organise dinner, (cheese and leek pasta bake, yum)
Badminton tonight with work colleagues, great fun!

Of course none of this is going to happen unless I move my wide behind from this chair, so cheerio for now, now I have typed it i have gotta do it.:p

Hope everyone else has a good day:A

    Hello everybody

First time posting on the daily yhread - though I do love to read it most days!...Having a good day today, dusted upstairs and down, cleaned bathroom, changed our bed linen and coerced DD2 and DS2 into doing their's (e.g. if you want me to make cakes for packed lunches today - you have to help do some chores!). Also cleaned bathroom and kitchen, been to work for 3 hours (first payroll run of the new tax year - so all the new tax codes to set up etc). Now home reading OS before I get on with the baking and vaccum upstairs and down.....have a good day everyone

Breakfast - Egg on toast made from HM seed bread for DH, DD2 and DS2 ...left over cold HM rice pudding for me (I love it cold!)

Lunch - banana sandwich on 4 seed HM bread, and the resat of the cold rice pudding (all gone now) for me.....packed lunches for everyone else of sandwiches of HM bread with home cooked gammon, banana, apple, HM sultana muffin and drink.

Dinner - DS1 comes home for dinner on Mondays and he loves sausages from our butcher...so grilled sausages, with HM wedges, baked beans for 4 of us, wedes replaced with pasta for DS2 who hates potato with a vengeance (sp?). followed by Manchester tart like my nan used to make (see below)..

    I baked pastry case
    2 tablespoons jam
    1/2 pint custard
couple of tablespooons of dessicated coconut

spread jam in pastry case, cover with custard, sprinkle on coconut whilst still warm. Chill until required.........I usually try and combine making this with other cooking - eg I made maet pie for lunch yesterday, and treacle sponge for pudding...so when Imade the pie, I baked a flan case, then when we had pudding, I made extra custard, and used half in the Manchester tart and the otehr half to pour over the treacle sponge.

    Hi everyone!
It's the first day of the holidays.......and I'm at work so not much OS going on here [I don't think putting the recycling out qualifies does it] but have left OH with a list of OS activites in my absence :D
I think he and the small person are going to decluttering the small person's room- if you look at the ceiling I swear you can see the hole where the bomb came in!!! Then possibly making Easter nests.
I shall take over later when we swap....I think we may be going to the park for a spot of kite flying although the wind seems to have died down :o Typical!
Shall be tackling my Mount Everest pile of ironing tonight and am making veg crumble for tea followed by a chocolate torte which my Mum gave me [they've gone away and cleared out their fridge :p
Got the next 2 days off....shall clean out my kitchen cupboards first and then play to my heart's content.
See you later in the week

Had a lay in as first day of the hols and this has put me in go slow mode! Have decided will have today off and start afresh from tom. So probably all I will do is a bit of paperwork and cook roast lamb tonight (was meant 4 ystrday but we went out)

In a minute going play Buzz on the playstation with DD - she's just bought it with her saved pocket money.

Anyhow best go now in case my de-motivation is catching! Have a Good Day.

    Hi everyone!

A big welcome to all the new posters on here today. Like many of you I don't usually seem to have exciting enough days to post every day, but I will go ahead anyway. Another work day today, but I did manage to poach an extra bit of salmon last night so I have just had that for lunch with some salad and HM seed bread. I had salad dressing on and dropped a cherry tomato onto my lap. It rolled all the way down my long beige skirt and left its little greasy trail behind.

It felt very different coming to work this morning after having handed in my notice last week. Everything seems brighter and I feel like a weight has lifted from my shoulders. Amazingly, a recruitment agency I haven't heard from in two years happened by chance to call me this morning with a possibility of a job. I can't believe the coincidence! Some of my colleagues are starting to hear on the grape vine of my impending departure and some of their comments to me have been really touching. I'm sure I'll be blubbing when it is time to leave.

I'm off out for a curry for tea. (Not very OS I know) I'm having a meet-up with some friends to set the world to rights. That means OH is taking DS to cubs tonight. I shouted at him this morning for watching TV instead of getting his school bag ready and we were nearly late but I'm feeling very guilty now. :o I won't see him until about 8.30pm and we parted on a bad note this morning which I hate doing.

Oh well, the sun is shining and the world is a beautiful place!

Have a good day everyone and happy OS open day! Please come back again Newbies!

    Hello,

I'm another lurker. Today has been fairly productive: I've nearly won against the housework and I even hit the textbooks a bit earlier. I've also sorted out my finances for next term, so altogether a pretty good start to the day.

Food has been very OS so far, munching on whatever looks like it's about to go off, so far: bread, hummus, salad and some nuts, but OH wants a takeaway tonight.

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine.
