Good idea Nelski, I'd like to know more about the "lurkers" too!
Well I thought I was having a good morning. I started as I mean to go on with my "spending as little of my weekly pocket money as possible during April and May" plan - the way I organise my budget means that the new month begins on the first Monday of the month. So - breakfast at home - toasted raisin and cinnamon bagel (one of a 5-pack picked up reduced to 20p and kept in the freezer) with butter. Also took the puzzles section from Saturday's Times so I had something to do on the train without needing to buy a newspaper. So, while on a weekday morning I would normally have spent £2.40 by now (60p on the paper and £1.80 on breakfast) I got off the train at London Bridge having spent a big fat zero
That's when I realised that my "bargain" charity shop suit trousers have a big hole in the fabric of the left inside leg  (still pleased I bought it BTW, the trousers may not be worth mending but the jacket alone was worth the £10 I paid for the suit) So I had no choice but to pop into the chemists and spend £1.10 on a pair of black tights just to make them decent
Still, not the end of the world - I had £3 or so left over from last week's budget so I still haven't spent any of this week's money!
Off out tonight to the opera with my housemate (freebie tickets)Might get away without spending any money - depends whether or not we fancy a drink afterwards. There IS a pub near the theatre which does very cheap Sam Smith's ale (under £2 a pint), but the problem is that it's not my "usual" pub (where all my friends go, and I know the landlady, but which has standard London pub prices).
catowen - poor you. Sounds like one of those situations where you say "Well I'm not going to punish you" (for climbing trees when they shouldn't have been) "cos I think you've punished yourselves quite enough!"
SnowyOwl - I hope work isn't too unbearable.
PP - you're sounding quite energetic todaybut TAKE IT EASY! (I know I don't need to tell you that
)
Will try to pop back later xxOperation Get in Shape

I'm a lurker !
I come along and read the old style board every day and always read the daily thread but very rarely post. Alot of the time this is because I feel i havnt got anything constructive to add to the threads. In this thread I dont post as my lifestyle isnt particularly old style - tho saying that since reading this board I have bought a slow cooker and just last week bought stardrops for the first time.
I'm a student nurse in my third year, I qualify in september. Im at home today as I am having various problems with my practice placement (As part of nurse training students spend half of the course in theory - in uni, and half in practice - out working on the wards). I'm a bit unsure of what is happening and Im waiting for people from uni and the NHS trust to contact me. You could say my lifes a bit topsy turvy at the minute because of this and I'm not handling it very well
Breakfast : Toast with lemon curd
Lunch : Will probably skip as Im not eating alot due to feeling crap about whats going on atm.
Dinner: Roast chicken with potatoes and veg for DS and OH - dont know if I will be able to face anything.
Nice to finally introduce myself to you all.0 -

Ritz What you should have done was wait until you got to work and *borrowed* a black niko pen and drew in a little patch on your leg to blend in. Total cost = FreeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Lovely to see all the new people posting :j
Spent three quarters of an hour trying to ring the gp for an appointment for DD (20) - finally got one for 4.15.
Hate this system where it is impossible to see the same gp and a frantic rush for the phone at 8.30 a.m. then being scared to move away from the phone in cse of missing a ringback!
Had scrambled egg on home made bread toasted - no idea about lunch yet but tea will be a buffet of salad, potato salad, eggs and sausage rolls.
Ran spybot on computer as DD wants to use it at 11a.m. and grabbed the chance to get on here while I can."This site is addictive!"

Good morning, I am a newcomer to this thread, the first time I have posted here and only came across this thread yesterday. I joined the forum end of January and keep finding new things everyday.
I shall try and check this thread everyday from now on, as I am at home everyday (hardly leave the house) - had to leave work 6 years ago because of ME, so I have no excuses not to check in. It is a very uplifting thread I notice, feeling a bit of a party crasher!
No plans today, much the same as every other day, but hoping to be able to eat something more than toast
Just to say this thread made me smileHope you all have a lovely day.

Hey all, better write something today or the title of the OP will go out of fashion.....
After weeks of snow and rain I finally get to the point where I am ready to lay the concrete for the base of my new log cabin. I put down a layer yesterday in the beautiful weather. Driving to get the Sunday papers at 7:30pm (it had been a long day) I saw a snowplough spraying rocksalt on the roads. So, after weeks of digging in mud I am now faced with the problem of frosting my concrete, three nights of ground frost after checking the weather. I have bits of old carpet to cover it at nights but its just typical timing.
Smiling on, the sun is shining and I have a date with a cement mixer.....
B - two scotch pies (been in fridge since Friday and even then were on a "yellow label"
L - TBC depends on whether the pies settle properly!
D - TBC, Its OH turn to cook tonight.0 -
Morning everyone
PP - good luck today with the needle and good luck with your DD's party (dont know where you find the energy from)
Jo - hope the new job goes ok
Catowen - hope the children are ok today
Not much happening here today - very quiet here but at least next week it will be mad - what with the 3 kids running around (i am looking forward to it!!!!)
Got WM on and emptied DW so a general clear up today and probably ironing tomorrow!! Its a beautiful day here so will try to catch up on the washing.
B - cereal
L - wraps
D - curry for me and OH, kids cauliflower cheese and baked beans
Hugs to anyone who needs them

Welcome to OS Tobruk - You'll like it here.
Morning all
Busy day today - just stopped for a quick coffee. Got 4 kids here today, all of school age so all alot easier to deal with.
We've made some jam tarts, I've made 24 mince and onion pies for the freezer and there's 12 rolls rising awaiting the oven. They're all currently dressing up - amazing how these "ohhhh so grown up" kids love delving in the dressing up box when they get the chance.
It looks like it's about to bucket down, typical as I've just got some washing on the line....the TD keeps tripping the electric (must by new fuses) so it's got to dry outside today.
Brekkie - toast
Lunch - HM rolls and jam tarts
Dinner - Turkey and brocolli pasta in a cheesy sauce.
Hope you all have a great day...."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0
