Afternoon everyone
Lillibet I hope you have a wonderful day.
I've just come back from the bootsale where I managed to get through £60!! Apart from the green coffee maker, 1 rolling pin and 4 ramekins the rest was all spent on the kids! Never mind, there's a lot to show for it.
DS was picked up by his dad at the bootsale so it's just DD and me for the rest of the day, I'll have to go and sort lunch out in a minute.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

HELLO
HAPPY ST GEORGES DAY
WELL things have been manic around here the last few weeks not a lot to show for it though, still living in a dishevellrd house but I love it here, we are not far from a large woods which will be fantastic for walks when the weather is a bit better. Yesturday we saw a family of buzzards flying around,It was amazing to watch and they were about for a good 45 mins.
Have saved a fortune at carboots the last week, and have bought lots for the house and garden, inc lawn mower, swing and curtains, saved well over £100 on just those.
Hope everyone is well.
Hugs to everyone who is not well or having a bad time of things.

Sure!
(Note the quantities are rough approximations as the original recipe uses "1 cup" etc so ive converted them using a 1950's cookbook i have which shows the measurement conversions.. they worked for me yesterday though so shouldnt be a problem!)
Ingredients
8oz self raising flour
4oz Margarine (Stork is best)
4oz Caster sugar
3oz Sultanas
2oz Chopped/quartered Walnuts
1/3 pint of milk
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon bicarb
Method
1/ Put the Milk, Marg, sugar, sultanas and walnuts into a pan and bring to the boil. (Stir regulary to stop sticking/burning)
2/Allow mixture to cool for a little.... then add the egg and beat well.
3/ Sift in the flour and bicarb
4/ Bake at 180 degrees (not sure of gas mark sorry!) for 1 hour.
Lookin at it like that it looks really simple!! Dunno why ive never tried it before.. think im just wary of a cake that starts life in a pan!
P.S. Just spoke to my "friend" (ok ok im sorta "dating" the guy! Wiwoo!) and he just mentioned to me that hes just been to his dads house (who is my "boss" at scouts) and he is getting ready for the georges day parade.... No-one told me about any parade!!!! Wondering if i am meant to be there or not?
Ah well i havent had a phone call so.. im hopin i shouldnt be!

Aftenoon all
Sorry I didn't get to post yesterday - hope you all had a good day.
It was my mum's birthday yesterday - first one without my dad so we made sure that we took her out for lunch to the garden centre and bought her a nice new plant for her birthday.
We then took her out to bakewell for a wander round and to pass the time away.
Just back from the car boot this morning which was a complete wash out due to the wonderful rain that we have today. Didn't pick anything up at all.
At mum's now for Sunday lunch so that's dinner sorted.
I'm going to do some baking this afternoon - Blueberry muffins, Banana bread and Sheperds/cottage pie for tea for tomorrow.
Hope all goes well for the baptism Lillibet. My dad's name was George so i'm thinking about him a lot today.
My friends mum is doing good too. She's been out of bed this morning so she's improving steadily - they hope to let her out of hospital by the end of the week so fingers crossed xxx
Take care to all

Had a long lie this morning - read the papers in bed till 1130am along with coffee - put a washing on which is now blowing merrily in the wind.
I read with interest about those whose ex OH and the time spent with their kids - My OH always sees his kids every week - if they are not staying weekends from Fri to Sun (depending on his shifts) then he sees them on night after school - there is only 1 week out of 8 where he does not see them - we also have them for 2 full weeks in he summer hols as well as the 4 days in between his shift pattern - yet his ex says he doesnt see them enough.
b/l toastie
d - steak and chips

Smokey - Hope you enjoy the footie (but not too much coz we need to win). We just stayed in to watch it. Hubby up too late to go out. Perhaps feeling a bit too worse for wear!
I was also reading about the seeing kids thing. I never quite understand why people don't want to see their own kids. My stepson has only seen his mother once in nearly 3 and a half years. Not even as much as a birthday card in all that time.
However when he lived with her his dad seen him every weekend from Friday after school until Sunday night. And during the Summer and Christmas holidays stayed for a week. They had split up when the child was a baby so this had been the situation for over 6 years and not once did my hubby miss a weekend.
As they say there's nowt as queer as folk.0 -

Hi Skystar
Well at least the result was ok - suited both teams but I guess our goalie made a couple of good saves or it could have been the other way - still 3 games to go - maybe we could do your team turn next weekend !!

I can't complain about XDH, he has DS every weekend, he used to have him from Friday night through to Sun night but then he started working as a doorman so he has him Saturday daytime and drops him off at about 8pm and then picks him up again on Sunday morning, he's taking him on holiday to Paris in August, it's not as though we can go out anywhere anyway because we have DD.
Although he did tell me off when he found out I had put a stopper on a special occasion because I had no babysitter. I got told the next time I am stuck I am to call him and he will come and look after the both of them for me so me and DH can go outBless him, he's sent DS home last night with new school shoes and a mountain of new underwear, he helps on my garden and repairs my plumbing, what more could I ask of an ex-husband
When we all went in to the hospital for DS's appointment the poor doctor was nearly in shock, she said she had never seen a family like mine before, most ex's and new partners were at each others throats. Ex-DH and OH were there cracking jokes at each otherOrganised people are just too lazy to look for things

OH has just made me feel as if I'm not hitting my head against a brick wall anymore! I was telling him about how I was doing with my saving to pay off my car next year AND he's just announced that he's going to save towards paying his car loan off early too! Oh, and increasing his pension contributions.......... and saving up towards our holiday next year!
I had a go at him the other day because his bank statement came through and there is an awful lot of cash machine withdrawals on top of everything else! :j :j :j
Plus, this lunchtime we could have gone to (or we normally would) the local lovely cafe. However, instead we've had egg mayo sandwiches made by me. I'd got some reduced rolls in the Co-op this morning when I'd gone to get a newspaper and some milk. :j :j :j I feel like dancing...............Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0
