Shez - Lamb pilaff recipe as follows, paraphrased (for copyright reasons) from a Sainsburys Student Cookbook!

Ingredients (to serve 2): 8oz lamb mince, 1 onion, 2 cloves garlic, 1pt boiling water, 4oz bulgar wheat, 4oz peas, 1oz raisins, 2 tablespoons greek yoghurt, 1 tsp mint sauce, salt & pepper.

    1. Finely chop the onion and garlic and fry in oil in a large frying pan for 5 mins.
    2. Add the mince and fry for another 5 mins.
    3. Add the bulgar wheat, stir through, then add the water, peas, raisins, salt & pepper.
    4. Bring to the boil and simmer for 15 mins or until the wheat has absorbed the water.
    5. Serve with a sauce made from the yoghurt and mint sauce mixed together.

Not sure how sis did in the marathon - she didn't mention her time. I did text her a while ago to ask but I suspect the poor love is fast asleep :D I'm sure she'll tell me in the morning (I sponsored her £20 so she'd better have earned it :D) This was her first marathon but she's done loads of charity fun runs/half marathons over the last few years.

Am having a lazy evening, still in front of the snooker (wow! finally discovered (after 6 months with digital TV) what the red button does on my remote control! ) My one concession to being productive today was washing up all my lunchboxes, then portioning up the pie I cooked yesterday. Now am back watching the snooker (courtesy of red button :D) and drinking a very blackberry-ish glass of Merlot :D

Bargain: thanks for recipe! hope your sister has plenty of foot soak! and not too much of that wine that now! - am really tempted to get the tesco wine offer with extra vouchers that ends tonite, but can i really justify spending £48 and another 12 bottles of wine - ive only just got my virgin wine delivery!

    Good morning folks.

Feeling really tired this morning. Must be that Monday feeling.

Just getting ready to go to work. Hoping it will be a quick week as I have a four hour training course tomorrow and I have a day off on Saturday as well.

Yesterday slow-cooked a chicken to have for tonights dinner and have all the veggies prepared as well. Nice and easy when I get home tonight.

    Gotta go for now.

    Have a great day :D

    Morning everyone morning skystar
I couldn't believe it when I logged on a couple of minutes ago & nobody had started today's thread. I felt a bit shy about doing it so had a quick look at some of yesterday's posts & then came back by which time skystar had begun so I'm OK now.
I hope the fact that there are none of the normal early risers means that everyone had a good night's sleep.
I'm also busy getting ready for work, just eating my porridge whilst I browse. I had a good day yesterday with the family, lovely when they all just enjoy each other's company isn't it? I was in bed by 9.30 & feel less tired today.
    Have a good Monday all.

:hello: morning skystar, Dobie, Smokey, and to everyone else to follow!

Have a good day at work - its a Grey morning here in Ye Olde London Town.

Have got WM on, having quiet cuppa before kids get up. Plan this week is to start sort of diet/cutting down and get fit before CParcs trip in 2 weeks!
Is there a thread for dieting support on here???? so no baking this week!

    After taking DS2 to nursery.
Send off form for Hydro Active Womens Challenge.
Try to pop to charity shops to look for piggy banks as Ive joined £2/20p clubs!

and sort out new belt for my turntable so I can play all my luverly old 12" singles I found in the cupboard clearout yesterday! found a couple of my old turntables had been sold on ebay for £10, probably cheaper to buy one them and use spare parts of it than trying to find a belt alone?

Smokie: do you know i havent got any madness records - yet i love them!

Have a good monday everyone!

    Morning all,

Well the holidays are over and the kids are back to school today :j Some serious spring cleaning in doors is in order as the past couple of week has been devoted to the garden, but again its its lovely outside already so what do I do???? Cleaning v Garden, Cleaning v Garden

Could do with popping into town to replace a light bulb for my fridge that stopped working over the weekend, the fridge is that old, about 20yrs, its the first bulb we had to buy, I just hope I can still manage to get hold of one.

Have a lovely Monday all, take care

    Morning

Feel so tired this morning, my oh had terrible knee pain last night I felt so sorry for him he couldnt sleep just kept moving and groaning in pain which in turn kept me awake, I will call his doc's this morning I called them last week to make an appointment for him and the next one was in 4 weeks time!!!!! He is a bit worried that they wont be able to do anything for him, he has Spina Bifida Hydrocephalous and his gait is different to everyone else which in turn makes him walk diffrently too, I just hope they can do something.
Cooked a chicken yesterday but didnt eat it, I found a spicy chicken sachet to use up but it say's a tin of chopped tomatoes but I don't have one can I just leave the tom's out?
