    Morning all,

PP what a lovely friend to do that for you :D

Hugs to everyone else, whether you need them or not.

Tootles I hope you have a better day today. It's awful when a day is full of catastrophe! I've done the running around after the bin men too, this week we were to prepared and forgot that they wouldn't be picking up the bins until today because of the bank holiday so the bin has been out for 2 days :)

I have to get a load of washing on, then wait for XDH to decide to come and pick DS up. Tomorrow I am getting me and the kids out of the house and going to the boot sale, it's run at one of the local school and only happens once a month during the summer but it's always huge and really cheap instead of the silly prices they charge at the main one :) I'll be looking for some wool and a Kenwood Chef :D

aw poshpaws - you and me both re the sun. It's dreadful isn't it, and people don't understand if you wear long sleeves and stay inside in the summer.
You can tell the sun is getting stronger as I have had my first sun blister on the back of my hand this week - and I haven't really been outside :(
Oh well, off to the great outdoors - with long sleeves and sun cream :D
Yep, I've been noticing it too - my neck and upper chest have started itching and the back of my right hand is all inflamed and swollen. Bloomin' sun darned near killed me last year, when I was waiting in the car for half an hour - thinking I was shaded, but not realising that my lower right leg was in full sunshine. By that night, my leg looked like it had been in the microwave, I was running a sky high temperature and hallucinating. Flippin' nightmare, it was! Still, that taught me a lesson I won't forget in a hurry - when you think you're all in shade .. check, check and check again!
:hello: I'm very well, considering the state I'm in. :hello:

    Morning everybody :hello:

catowen - glad you had a lovely night out, and hope the hangover doesn't last too long :D

TM and Posh - I didn't know sun poisoning existed! I'm actually really lucky with my sun tolerance - despite having a complexion that's white as a sheet, it normally takes a LOT of sun (i.e. sitting in the sun all afternoon on a really hot day) before I start to burn, and that's without any sunscreen.

tootles - PMSL stands for "p!ssing myself laughing" (hence risk of causing offence!) Hope you're having a perfectly calm and serene Saturday :D

Shez - this is how to make sure you've said hello to everybody, including the people who've posted while you've been writing, without ending up posting twice:

Right. Woke up at 10:20am, and can't imagine how much leccy I've wasted this week as I have been persistently accidentally falling asleep (and sleeping right through) with the TV on :o It is still on as I am watching Saturday Kitchen.

Have to go out at 2:30pm as am off to the opera, seeing Götterdämmerung which is one of the longest shows in the entire opera repertoire so it's starting at 4pm  and goes on most of the evening with two intervals :D Some of my friends went to the previous performance and said it was a terrible production :( but that most of the singing was excellent. We shall see.

So I now have a 3 hour slot to get as much done as possible: shower and dress, then make a big cod & salmon pie with potato topping (got to use the fish up today as I meant to do it yesterday and fish has been out of the freezer since yesterday morning). Also need to make some sandwiches to eat in the intervals, to prevent myself spending too much on food while I'm out this afternoon/evening. Will use some of Thursday's bargain wholemeal rolls (2 packs of 8 for 10p a pack) and prob. do two with cheese and marmite, and another two with strawberry jam. Actually, can't remember if I have any strawberry jam. Well, we'll see. If I have time to do a banana loaf I'll take a chunk of that too.

Also, if possible, I need to find a book of sheet music which I promised to lend to a friend who I'll be seeing this afternoon.

Must go, Saturday Kitchen is about to finish!
    Rzl xx

Thanks for that BR, the trouble was I was not laughing...... mores the pity.....

The shoes seem to have dreid out ok no smell as far as I can tell, but not risking wearing them for a while, will leave thm outside to 'freshen' in the air.

Its a lovely day, the sun is warmish, we have just finsihed planting up for our friend, have also potted up some stuff which needs to grow in the warm for a while until the risk of frosts is past........

Just going to change into decent clothes from my usual scruffy track suit attire and cook bacon sarnies for lunch, then we are off to collect two of OH's bowling chums and away for the afternoon........ I am going to a little village called Teigh, on the borders of Rutland and Leicestershire, my friend lives in an old rectory there, has a huge garden which used to be open to the public, but since her husband died 4 years ago she only takes parties by appointment now, have a feeling I might get roped in to dig. plant, shift stuff so maybe should take scruffy clothes with me, just in case......OH will be plying his skill on the bowling green in Oakham.....

You live in a beautiful part of the world. I'm not too far away (North West Leicestershire) but we're coming to Rutland for a weekend's camping next weekend to explore a bit more. We came over on my birthday last year in September & had a fabulous day on our bikes pootling round the water & the lanes, did about 30 miles if I remember correctly & we loved it. I'm really looking forward to seeing a lot more.
Hope you have a much better day today.

We actually live on the outskirts of Leicester, near to the Glenfield hospital........I wish we could afford to live in Oakham, its a lovely little town, about 3/4hour from us here....via the ring road and Melton, where my daughter lives.

  • I've just had a wander to the farmer's market and it was a bit rubbish really! The only thing I was tempted by was a huge bag of purple sprouting broccoli, but OH doesn't like it and I'd've never managed it all on my own!
Plans for the day are doing the washing up, another load of washing and having a good tidy and hoover before mum comes round at 2.30 - need to prove I can cope without her!

    B-nothing
    L-Smoked salmon sandwich (MMMM!)
    D-lemon and asparagus risotto

Hope everyone's having a good day.

    hello all

its freezing here today and to think it was so warm yesterday we didnt need a jacket.
dd was over yesterday and tried to give grumpy his tablet, but no joy, wouldnt mind if it was just one but its three all in one go, at least i am managing to do his eye ointment.
was at the market today and have got my sweetpea and kale plants very cheaply, i like to grow kale as it is best picked fresh from the garden.

prudent - i love car boot sales, we have a big one here every month

tootles - sorry you didnt have a good sleep, i find a drop of tisserand lavender oil on my pillow works wonders

jo - i envy you with your chiminea, i have a gas fire now but i really miss the open fire, as do the cats

poshpaws - i knit too and i love going into wool shops, enjoy your knitting

rizl - hope you enjoy your opera, its nice to have something to look forward too

i am off for a walk now, will need scarf and gloves again, love to all

Twink the way I give tablets to my cat is a bit weird but it really works and is over and done in seconds. I kneel on the floor with the cat between my legs and with her head pointing towards my knees, then I pull her head up slightly and open her jaws with one hand, with the other hand I push the tablet into her mouth and as far back as I can get it, I then hold her head up for a couple of seconds and stroke her throat, this forces her to swallow the tablet. Once you've got the routine going it takes literally seconds and the cat doesn't even know what's hit it :D

    Forgot to say
    Happy Birthday Frizz head

Didn't mean to ignore ya, just my usual "mind like a sieve" bit going on before :)

I've decided - I hate all the kids round me - including my own! I make sure that I park my car as far over to the side of the drive as possible so they have enough room to go past. I have just seen the scratches that appeared yesterday. In fact I was pointing one out to DS1 - about 6 inches long, when I saw an 18inch curved scratch on my door  And they are both through the paint!!

I think I'll go back to driving sheds - nobody ever seems to damage them, even when you wouldn't care!
