taurusgb, Ikea can be a dangerous place to be you just pick up a few things from the market place and before you know it.......

What about either writing a list of things that you need if any or giving yourself an allowance to 'waste' (shock horror) that way you if you want something you can have it without feeling really bad but it will keep you from going wild and spending all your savings. :)

Ooooh yes, me and Ikea is lethal. Me, Ikea and my wallet is worse :D Why don't you make a list of things that you "need" and if you do buy anything then it has to be on the list. :)

    Afternoon everyone!

many thanks for the vote of confidence and welcome from Lucie, Bargain, Elona, Purplegirluk1 and anyone else I've not put in (sorry but I lose track scrolling up and down to see who said what and where! - maybe there is quicker way than what i am doing?) :A :T
Yes, I often feel like i havent got anything much interesting to say, but whatever, i shall post as i like it here!!! probably just the old pmt lurking and the usual lost feeling that comes with it! ha ha

Bargain & PP: noticing your locations - I cant be all that far away from you either, I am just otherside of blackwall tunnel - or are you waydown in kent?

Pooky: thanks for the link to rolls, have printed it out this time! definately have a go at those!

Well I hope I helped someone out today - I went into Big W and saw a couple trying to buy one of those kids trampolenes around £20 (Plain) -£29 (Dora)
when the sales assistant went I told them that tescos had their own reduced to £8.99. They were v.happy about that and were going to go there - I hope they still had them and they got one for their little girl. hope i saved them some money!
Also have just email tesco with praise for one of their staff the other week.
Sometimes its nice to put something good back into the world. I have been trying to be a more positive, pleasant/cheery person :) I do find that now I am at home that people are more pleasant/helpful during the day - different to when i used to go shopping weekends - people seem to not mind having the occasional banter/chatter - thats nice.

Had a nice surprise yesterday, an old work colleague came down from northampton on a surprise visit! then today I met my one of my ex-bosses! (the nice one that didnt make me redundant!)

gosh i think ive rattled on to long.

    Have a good afternoon all.

If instead of left-clicking on the "post reply" button you right click on it and choose "open link in new window" you will then have the reply window in a separate screen from the thread so you have complete freedom to scroll through earlier posts in the thread while writing your message.

We're both in Welling - there are quite a lot of OSers in SE London & NW Kent. I'm hoping to buy a flat in New Cross Gate/Bermondsey next year :D

  • Hi all,

Just got in from w*** and have one load in the WM as we speak. Off food shopping when DD gets in from school.
Absolutely pouring with rain here so no chance of getting the washing on the line. Roll on the weekend, supposed to be warm and sunny (18c)

Tea wil probably be a salad for me and DD as off to band at 7pm, DH has parents evening so won't be home till about 9.

Its been a rotten soggy day today.
My washing is dangling drippily from the line,no point in bringing it in wetter than it went out!
I picked spinach for tea but havent been able to do any garden stuff.
I had a Twix xtra for breakfast as OH bought me one yesterday and it seemed greedy just to scoff it when I'd had tea already.
We had cheese and onion melted sandwiches for lunch and tea will be beef pie, potato, spinach and carrots.
DD(15) is driving me bonkers at the moment as she is going to 6th form college in September and wishes she was going now.It was DS's first day back today so that didn't help. She is also having a grump because we wouldn't let her travel to cornwall on her own to visit a penfriend (she's only just started to go into town on her own ,15 minutes walk away) and neither of us wanted to drive all that way and then turn around and drive back, just to return a week later and do it all again(teens can be so unreasonable!).
Ive been looking at my electric meter this morning and I'll try to do it every day for a week so I can find our average usage and see if I can work on reducing it.

Bargain: thanks for that have just done it! never thought of that before!
Hey I know bermondsey v.well, most of my previous family (history) have all lived/come from that area - it did used to be all that when i was little, but now its very trendy and upmarket! Surrey Quays used to be called Surrey Docks in my day (oh god i sound old now dont i?)
why move from welling? thought that would have been a nice place? or do you want to be nearer to the city?

VickyA: I have been sitting here nearly 2 hours now virtual chatting! god must get on a do something like planning what to have for dinner, I dont have my DD today aswell so I should make use of my quiet time - well maybe i am on here!!!

Shez: I want to be nearer to the city and there are some very reasonably priced newish small flats in a development between New Cross Gate and South Bermondsey which I have my eye on. (Not the posh end of Bermondsey  :D) There just aren't the same type of flats in Welling cos it's a lot more "suburban", they all seem a bit bigger, more expensive and mostly slightly out of my price range. Although I've quite enjoyed living in Welling, I moved there for convenience and out of necessity rather than choice (mate offered me very cheap accommodation when I needed a roof over my head, and the cheapness of it has allowed me to concentrate on saving for my own place) and I would prefer to be more central (more transport choices, and if I'm still working in the same place, the ability to cycle to work). Used to live in Lewisham and Catford so I know those areas of London quite well.

My whole social life's in Central London and I don't really go out in Welling much, so it makes sense to be as central as I can afford.
