    :hello: Gooooooood Afternoon!! :D

Haven't had chance to read everyone's doings yet, so hoping life is fair to middling with you all.

Yesterday I got a huge bag of beef bones from the butchers and roasted them off last night. This morning, I've frozen some for later and the others are now making stock in the SC - really happy about that because it's an age since I've been able to get some decent bones.

    Best news of the day?

    :j :j :j I've been offered a (rescued) hen of my very own!!! :j :j :j

Poor thing doesn't socialise well with her own kind, seems to have been a victim of pecking order domestic violence, but still lays. Trouble is, have no idea about looking after chickens and I haven't a clue where I would put her! (don't think she'd fit in either of my dolls houses ;) ) Need to put my thinking cap on and give this some serious consideration! How much noise can one chicken make? Can you keep just one? How much space will she need?   Any hints, tips, advice, suggestions most welcome! :):):)

B: Toasted seed and honey bread with jam.
    L: salad pitta
D: Calzones (using up l/o from yesterdays Bolognaise sauce) with a mixed salad.

Need to phone a garage to have a look at my car :( she's been making a few weird noises the past couple of days and as I know nothing about cars, I need to find a man who can! Fingers X'd it's nothing too expensive because I've just had to pay one set of dental bills this morning

Right, onward and upward - got washing to finish and dough to make.

    Take care all :)

    Hi everyone!
Not much OS here today as still on my own at work and have been running around like a scalded cat. Oh well my bosses are back from their hols on Monday so should become a little less busy. However, we'll hear then whether we've kept our contract....if so it's for 2 years and it's full time for me from 1st Aug....if not it's dust off the CV and find a new job! Toes crossed for the former!
I was a very good OStyler last night and spent an hour taking up 4 pairs of trousers for the small person which have come from his cousin [one pair are M&S and virtually unworn] as well as doing the accounts. Think I've earnt myself a night off...back to my library book about HM wines and liqueurs. I hadn't realised that you could make peach brandy using tinned peaches...is this an OS thing getting very over excited about such possibilities!! :rotfl:
Have received my 10% Superdrug voucher, will set the small person the challenge of making the NY taxi from the paper cutout and am now ready and armed with my Stardrops!
Tonight it's pasta with pesto for tea as it's Beavers and a bit of a dash!

Hugh Fearnly-Whittingshaw (or whatever he's called!) has info on his site about chicken keeping. In it he refers to an organisation called something along the lines of the Chicken Keepers Association, along with a link to their website. Sorry for being a bit fuzzy but I am pretending to do some w***.....

You are very lucky getting your plot rotavated for you, we had to arrange to get it done ourselves, cost me £30 Plus £90 for a shed as there was not one on the plot........

Yep it is quite good actually, the rotovation service is available to new tenants but it can take up to 28 days. If I had been organised I would have got the plot sorted a month of so ago and then it would have been ready to start this month but until two weeks ago I was going to start growing in my yard and then maybe attempt an allotment in a year or two but I got carried away with the potential space (only have a very small yard at home).

There isn't anything on my plot just a lot of mud, I would say the plot was only given up maybe last session or the session before so its not horrendously overgrown but my back can become very painful from doing too much housework (shame) let alone digging up a 60ft plot. My DH says he's going to build me a little shed (they've been repairing a big shed at a friends house so have quite a bit of wood etc left over) and my plan next year is to scavange enough material to make a cold frame or alternatively nick my mums greenhouse lol.

I'm so excited I can't wait to start growing veg for practically nothing, I only need to save £1 a week off my shopping budget (from getting stuff off the allotment) for it to cover all my costs and I've already got advance orders on any surplus veg I have. :D

Ok...I need serious help here...my sister has offered to take me with her to IKEA tonight (I'm a scaredy cat driver and won't drive the 40 miles there myself)...I've said yes because I never can resist Ikea, not for the big stuff, but the odds and ends of kitchen things, fabric, and 'good idea' trinkets...I am being very good with not spending on anything other than necessaries this month...I've said I'll go, but how do I not spend all the money I've saved from this month's housekeeping??????? (Housekeeping from 21/3/06 to 20/4/06 = £250....spent so far £180)
