  • Just a word of warning to anybody who had cover with SATCOVER, my aunt was called by HOMEGUARD Direct who told her that SATCOVER had gone out of business and they'd taken over. They quoted her have the cost of SATCOVER as she'd never claimed she asked for det5ail to be sent which when they arrived confirmed a direct debit had been sennt up and a much higher cost. as she is in her mid 80's she took eveything into Barclays Bank who called HOMEGUARD for her anmd were told she had to cancel in writing something she had not set up, Barclays did the letter for her.
A few days leter she received another direct debit notification from EASIPAY on behalf of SAT AFTERCARE both of these companies had her full details including her bank account number. I've spoken to both companies who insist that she gave them all the details herself which she is says she didn't both say they have no link with SATCOVER but have just taken over their business. We expect futher letters any day now.

some intersting reading and advice ...i am having similar problems with a company calling Skylite assurance ltd

at start of call they were talking about £5 cover for existing sky box which i agreed to ..then i got passed over to someone else who started talking about £80
...told them to cancel immediately as wasnt happy with the way call was going and knew i didnt have that ammount spare cash available in bank ... told them this as well They hung up

went online straight away to find out £80 had been taken and phone my bank who first operator said id voluntary gave my details and nothing could be done ...i was so angry at being conned after i found out about that company online and it was happening regulary over the yrs

...so phoned again and 2nd operator cancelled my card and put me through to the fraud dept ..who said at that point couldnt do anything ..as only had name ofcompany ( which i had to get from 1st operator) and to phone back mon or tuesday to do an Indeminity claim

but even more shocking to read that they still able to use your details and set diect debit back up after the card and direct debit has been cancelled
